Hi guys,
im new to PS2, i noticed that some titles are available in CD and DVD? what's the use of having two versions, provided that PS2 is DVD capable?

some games are small (under 630 megs), so they use cds for them (cheaper).

I think Dvd is better,but this is just my opinion.If you happen to use cd it tends to strain the laser(it happens to all the systems doesn't matter what version because of cheap lasers).PS2 cd games normally have a purple bottom to them or black bottom.PS2 Dvd games have silver on the bottom of them,and sometimes a gold bottom.You actually have a choice to what media you want to use whether it is CD or Dvd media for your games.Alot of people will just look at the bottom of the disc to determine what it should be burned at Cd(Purple or Black bottom)and Dvd(Silver or Gold bottom).There is a patcher out that can patch from cd to dvd known as DvdScanLite or the most recent version C.M.P patcher.They both work pretty good though,changing a game from Cd to Dvd.It all depends though like I said,not alot of people have to worry about this.If your system has a hard time reading Cd media though.I would suggest you patch your Cd games to Dvd.I could keep going on the subject,but most of the stuff I mentioned is kind of important I think.
