i have backed many dvds on my sony burner i got a few weeks ago. Toady when i burned a dvd the light was blinking for a while which ment it was burning. But after a while it stopped and when the burning process got to 100 i got an error and the dvd had only a little bit of info burned on it. I tried a couple dvds and have been getting coasters, even with discs i have done before. Can anyone help?

Probably need a little more info.

But from the sound of it your burner is probably leaving you.

Can you still burn CDs. I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, apparently DVD burners are not as long lasting as CD only burners. Difference between our 2 problems was thatI was getting a 'Power Calibration' error when burning DVDs but CDs worked justfine.

need more info..make and model of sony burner...this could be one of 2 things: 1. firmware needs updating, 2. poor media.

after shutting down the computer for the night and trying it again this morning, the burner is working again. not sure what happened there. as i was decrypting a dvd the electricity cut off due to the weather. maybe thats why the burner went crazy for a while.
