Hi all

I used the region free firmware V1.07 from RPC1 ages ago to make my drive region free.

I'm in region 2.

Since then i have used only 1 other region disc (Region 1) with this drive and i used DVDShrink to shrink the movie.

Now when i insert a normal region 2 disc and fire up DVD Shrink it says my drive is locked on Region 1 and i can't change it ???

I used DVDInfo Pro and it says my Drive is...

Region Code ALL

Region Control RPC-1

User Changes N/A

Vendor Changes n/a

Anyone any ideas whats wrong ???
I tried flashing up to V1.08 with still the same prob so flashed back to 1.07.

My drive is a Pioneer 1.06 with V1.07 Hacked firmware ???

TIA

PS... I also used the drive info tool from afterdawn which says my Drive has No Region protection ???

I'm guessing no one knows how to do this.

I'm thinking it must be done at software level... ie let windows know that the drive is Region free but don't know how to do it.

I guess i'm stuck using Region Free software then.

To all who plan on using the hacked firmware, let this be a lesson.

The region free coding doesn't work ???

Read this about patching the region in your drive. That only corrects half of the problem.

http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=239

This may explain your problem.

Thank you so much for clearing this up for me.

I just assumed a Firmware Flash took care of everything till recently.

I am now aware of the doftware level Region protection and how to correct this.

Again I thank You
