i'd like to directly connect my cable modem to my gaming computer so i can create games that people can join, which i've been able to do a couple times. i tried today though and after unplugging from the router and connecting directly to the modem, couldn't use the internet. i looked at network connections in control panel and it says its enabled. usually when I'm connected to my router, I have the IP's and DNS servers set and they work. when I keep these and I'm connected directly to the modem, it doesn't work. Neither with it set to automatically obtain IP addresses.

any help would be great
