I have a movie that has only DTS audio, which none of my 5 DVD players can play. I want to rip it out and convert it to AC3, then add it back in.
I know this is not going to be simple, but I am willing to spend the time on this.
Any help would be great.

Not to be a bore but why don't you just get some equiptment that plays dts. Then use the unspent time to catch a movie!
Really dude (we all say that in California), you will love the richer, more brilliant sound-space of dts to dolby's overcompressed lossy characteristics.

Quote: I have a movie that has only DTS audio
Seems strange to only contain DTS, is this already a backup or an original?

It is a backup that, only contains DTS audio.
I know that the quality is better with DTS, but I am not in the market for yet another DVD player at this time.
Is there any software that would play it on my PC. I am currently using PowerDVD and it does not work with DTS.

Just look at the right side of the Main Window of BeSweetGUI.exe application, you can find there a AC3ENC Combo box, set it to AC3.
Set your Input File (.dts) at top of the Window and press DTS to AC3 Button.

I was searching for a solution for this as well, actually I just wanted to rip a DTS file from my dvd and seperate it into 6 wav files or even better, do a mixdown. Searched for hours for a way to do this but nothing.
can anyone tell me how to do this in detail. The procedure above (DTS to AC3) first brings an error msg: FAILED(hr=0x80040154) in CreateFilter(CLSID_DTSSource, &pReader) ?
I can use .AC3 files as Imput no problem with no error but .dts files just won't work. any help would be appreciated.

all I can say is DTS is soooooooo much better...... watched U-547 again....... this time I put the volum up on my surround sound and the depth charges blasted me out of my room!!! Felt like I was in that sub!!!! I experimented and changed the audio from DTS to Dolby....and the experience was not the same!~ DTS ROCKS!!!!!!

I think that no ones will disagree, DTS is much better than AC3, but even so, can you convert DTS to AC3, I can, if someones need I´ll guide him, the point is not "dts is better than ac3", the question is " Can you convert DTS to AC3? "...I make my stand.

I don't need to convert it...... sorry! So I never came up to that point where I need to convert an audio track to something else so my equipment can play it. but, if I needed to I guess I would ask, too!

Hi, i have the following problem, recently i bought a dvd player LG DVX-9900 and it worked fine until yesterday, when i tried to play a movie with a DTS audio stream, it doesnt recognize it, only mp3 or AC3, i upgraded the firmware with the latest upgrade from fallen angel, but it didnt work - so the olny option now is to convert the DTS to AC3, i tried with virtual dub but it says, it cannot recognize the audio codec (source format tag 2001), so what should i do,
