when i use Azureus, java starts runing and slows-down my computer. the reason is that it's using a 100% CPU-usage. is there a way for me too limit the usage to, o say, 50%? thank you.
I had the same issue with Azureus and it turned out to be the version of zone alarm i was using at the time. now using version 5.5 and things here are back to normal.
Zone alarm is a software firewall prog. If you have zone alarm then you will see 'ZA' in your system tray, or a vertical red bar next to a vertical green bar.
Do you know if you have a firewall, and if so which one it is?
I have the same problem...on top of that . I am a newbie..I guess, at least with posting. I am having problems with Azuereus, as well as everyone else. I spent a couple of days researching what is needed to do to make it work to the best potential. I have windows firewall, a router firewall (Linksys WRT54G version 1.1 with the upgrade firmware of 1-05-05), and Norton Antivirus 2004 firewall. I have Comcast cable internet service. I first was using Azuereus 2.3.02. I was receiving downloads max at 3.5kb. I read a couple of threads and the majority of the people were recommending that it is best to switch to Azuereus 2.2. I did that and began to receive downloads at 10.2 kb. I did the port forwarding. I am not too sure if it is correct but I did the following
Name Port range
Azuereus 6881-6881 both my ip addy enable
Torrent file 6881-6889 both my Ip addy enable
I then disable Windows firewall and configured Norton Antivirus 2004 to allow Azuereus access to the net and create a networking rule to allow access to ports 6881-6889 for torrent file.
I looked on my router and saw that the firewall was enable. I left it at that. I know get an average download of 22-30 kb, with an occasional 40kb. My highest has been 47.6 kb for a few seconds.
I even did something called port trigger, because I saw in a thread that Azuereus use 6969 for tracking (I think). So I did the following
Torrent file port trigger range of 6969-699 port forwarding range of 6881-6889 both enable.
I still on received downloads of 22-30kb. I have a couple of questions
1. is this the highest I can get?
2. I know I am doing something wrong, yall have any ideas
3. I even disabled all firewalls and did not get an increase in download, what else can I try?
4. is there anyone out there with my router? What have you tried? Can you provide pictures as well. is this true? Senior Member drchips said, ?the port forwarding is only of use if you intend to publish via BT - there is no benefit otherwise, the speed increases you have seen are coincidental? (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/73686 )
I have read several threads and did portforward.com forwarding and firewall set up on my router and on Norton anitivirus. I tried using higher port ranges, but I am not confident I did it correctly. Results were downloads less than 10kb. I need help.
Kaisor, you need to change the port you are using the following ports are blocked by most trackers and so you are probably not getting as many connections per torrent as you could be.
I recommend using a port (or ports depending on your client, Azureus only allows one) in the range 49152 through 65535, don?t forget your port forwarding (if you have a router) else torrent tracker may well reject your connection request.
What is your internet connection type (upload and download please)
my connection type, last I check was somewhere around 521kbs download...don't know the upload....I am using a wireless adapter. So, I need to change my port for Azureus port to one somewhere between 49125 and 65535? Do I also need to change my Torrent file ports? Should I do this on Azureus settings, my router, and my norton anitvirus firewall, or just one of them? How about the port trigger... do I need to change that?
