Simple question. I'm putting together a new hardware system. I have all the hardware on the shelf. Went to get the OS, wanting XP PRO SP1, and found out all that is now available for new systems is XP PRO SP2, which I bought.
I've ripping and burning DVDs for about 2 years now, so I'm not exactly a novice. I plan to install Shrink, Decrypter, and Nero (Ultra 6) on this new system.
My question - am I going to have SP2 problems? I would think a new install would alleviate any upgrade from SP1 to SP2 problems I keep hearing about, but don't know for sure. Anybody have experience with a new XP Pro SP2 install and Shrink/Decrypter/Nero software?
My fall back strategy will be WIN2K PRO which is kind of a step backwards...
I use Nero, Alcohol 120%, shrink & dvdxplatinum, I initially had problems with Nero & SP2, but I downloaded updates from Nero & now my shrink/nero combination works beautifully. As does Alcohol & Platinum. I run WinXP pro. I prefer Platinum as it suits my needs better, but I am starting to use shrink for the hell of it & am getting excellent results. Alcohol & Nero are good for different things, both are very capable programs. I have AnyDvd & DVD43 for CSS & region problems. DVD43 can tricky at times, but I have had very few issues with it. I would highly recommend AnyDvd, this software makes all of your drives region free, it removes macroprotection & will skip read errors, well worth the money I would say. Hope this helps,
