ok thanks alot guys. One last thing just so i know exactly what im doing. When i buy a mod chip, and get it installed, all i have to do is burn my ps2 games to a CD-R disks, just like i would if i was burning a music cd. Then those burned games will play perfectly fine in my ps2? This is my uunderstanding...is this exactly how it works

NO NO NO NO.....!! TOGUN...dont mis-understand what people have posted.the swapmagic quoted at $20-30 is a ONE OFF FEE,the disc's(boot disc's) are used everytime you load a game,and are used to load EVERY game you have.
1.you buy the swap disc $20
2.make a backup (disc cost around 30 -50 cents)i am not sure,pardon me but i am english and work in pounds!!!
3.thats it,each game will cost you the price of a blank dvd.
you must also take into account that most games are on DVD these days and not CD-R.

Yea hurtsy is right..
Most Ps2 games are DVD's and not CD format
but to burn them correctly you DO NOT burn them to a CD as a music CD!!!!!!!!!!!!
To correctly burn DVD's or CD's them you need to use programs such as:
-Alcohol 120%
-DVD Decrypter
-Clone CD
-Game Jack
and Nero..try finding the latest of all of them.
I use Alcohol 120% finding it to be the easiest
DVD Dycrypter is good as well.
Oh yea...You must have a DVD Writer to burn to Blank DVD's.

wow you guys have helped a ton. Thank you guys so much. I have a mac, and the dvd burner is very good, there will be no problem burning them. I think Im going to go ahead and buy the swap magic. I totally misunderstood what the swap magic did, so yeah. I also looked online at the instructions for rigging the system with tissue and what not? Is this a very hard process? It didn't look to bad so I think ill be alright.

If anyone has bought a magic swap, can you please give me the link where you ordered it from? That would be great. It said it was only 18.99(usa) on this one sight, is it really this cheap?

Yea, the swap Magic is that cheap. But u also need to know what Ps2 u got
If u got a regular Ver 1-10, then you need to buy a fliptop or swipe card. With a fliptop i hear it makes things easier. But its around $40-$50 bucks for both
the fliptop and Swap Magic disks

this is taken from http://www.ps2cover.com/slidecardsm3.html , it says that Slide Card & Swap Magic 3.2 Set works with all Ps2 models, is this not true?.." Works with all versions of PS2 with increased compatibility added for the newest PS2 consoles and games! Will also work with PS1 game backups (GameShark required)". WIll this not work with my model(1st type model)

Any one ever had a problem with there Ps2 hard drive my Ps2 does not reconize my hard drive any more can anyone help me and let me know what to do someone who went thru and heard about this before. I tryed taking it out and putting it back in I tryed putting the cd installation disk in for it that did not work let me know what im doing wrong

Well I know for a fac t that the slide card does work for the latest Ps2 models, but it should work fine w your 1st type model.
The swap magic disks work perfectly fine, but there are some games that have probems booting or dont play at all. Mostly the CD-R ones. But many work fine.

jigga couldn't tell you what's wrong with your hard drive. I have one. Do you use hd loader or hd advanced? How long did you use it b4 it crapped out?

i;m oretty sure the programs are not compatibal. with both macs and windows . I THINK that Nero is only for windows

yeah i have Hdloader and i was installing a game on my hard drive that i borrowed from blockbuster i guess shortly after that my hard drive does not work no more any one know why that is my playstation does not recognize my hard drive any more the light to the hard drive does not even flicker no more help help help

i'm not sure. Mabey the hard drive went bad. Try the hard drive on a friend's PS2. Does the PS2 work without the hd?

Gotta Question!..?... Apparently they don't have any of the old version of the ps2 on the market and just went to selling the new slim ones.. I had a old one But broke and want to buy one of the new ones.. I recently bought a swipe card/swipe magic. and I'm wondering if it will work w/ the new slim ps2 and What I would have to do?...

You cant use the slidecard with the slimline pstwo. It is a fliptop now.
