Bye the way if your still using Kazaa go dump out your piggy bank, buy a suit, find a good lawyer and be prepared to take on the entire judicial system. Kazaa is the most vounerable P2P out there, because its for beginners who share their music, and think, "I wont get caught I only download a few songs." The industry goes after people who share, and belong to very large P2Ps. K++ is no better. Also why the hell would you want all that spyware. winmx, kazaa, morpheus, bearshare or whatever, they are just loaded with that stuff.
i agree with you on kazaa, it's pretty high profile and full of spyware unless you go with kazaa lite, which sucks too. winmx is very good though if you are looking for mainstream movies and music but still want to stick to a true p2p app. i'm not sure what you mean by it containing spyware though. maybe you've never used it?

as far as harder to find and underground music, soulseek usually can't be beat and is spyware free. in fact, it's the only conventional p2p app that i still use. the only hangup is that you have to rely on the speed of an individual user, since the app has no multi-point DL options as of yet.

you can try irc, but i've forsaken it long ago. many chat users require that you be a reg in order to DL, or that you share at least 40gb, or that you bow down before their awe-inspiring nerdiness to DL from them, especially when requesting the rarer, hard to find files. i say, let the pencil necks feel secure and have their tightly knit communities to themselves. i would hate to disrupt their geekdom and remind them that there is a real world past their monitors.

and newsgoups = ancient artifact from the past.

my advice, snag as many torrents as you can, while you still can, and switch to soulseek if you can't find what you are looking for musicwise.

I pay mor my IRC, so no sharing is required although its recommended. But I haveonly used 4 P2Ps (and eMule), and they were, K++(no spy, but weak Kazaa networks), Kazaa (tons of spy, bad networks), Morpheus (some spy, ok networks), Limewire (no spyware, best true P2P networks from a music standpoint out of these 4). No I have never used, iMesh, BearShare, or WinMX, I just heard stories. The only IRC I have hear of thats 40 GB+ is DC++, and Im not sure thats even an IRC. But if you pay even a small fee, you'll reap the benefits. BTW if you do pay use PayPal. Dont even consider giving some1 your, or your parents, Visa#.

Compaq computer- $1200
Dell computer- $500
monitor- $150
DVD burner- $100
PS2- $300
Xbox- $150
PSTwo- $150
Wirless kit- $50
The pain and frustration I go through with all of this Crap- priceless. Some things in life are free... others suck...

Well ounce you figure out what file you want from which bot and the packet number for the file, for example:

You want LOTR from Bot420 and it's packet number is #7, you type "/msg Bot420 xdcc send #7" and your file should start d/l or at least be in the place in the q.

i like ares (aresuniverse.org). it has no spyware or nething at all. you can even download games(illegally). the only bad thing about it is that it automatically shares all of your files when you dload them =(

i apoligise, i had forgotten about this thread - i was out of line in my previous statement, please ignore it, it had been a long day.

Ares is too slow and everything takes too much searching, plus their are many people watching it, the best thing for PS2 games? Torrents

always with the torrents.

Almost every basic p2p, kazaa, gnuetella, and morpheous (which claims it is spyware free) has spyware.

Kazaa sucks hard. Unless you're willing to use Diet K and somehow mask you're ip, even then most of the files are corrupted or viral.

Limewire is only slightly better. Comes with 3 spyware programs, and most if not all EXE files you download are viral, meaning, no programs unless they are in zip format.

Bit-torrent.... I've yet to find a bt network that can download as fast as limewire, and I'm on 2MB/s download and 1.5MB/s upload cable internet.

This IRC shiz looks interesting though. Think I'll give 'er a try.

Torrentz & IRC

they are the best, no offense mate but if you don't know what your talking about with regards to torrentz & speeds dont speak at all...

their are plenty of fast torrentz out their and they do not (as you said) come on networks, they are very fast if you know what you are doing.

Hi folks,

Just want to clarify that while a few of us run an IRC channel for afterdawn users, this is a help channel only.

This channel is not the place to come to asking for files.

that said, feel free to drop in with hardware or software problems. or simply drop by for a chat.

see you there.

:)
