Kronic420, do you know if your DVD player is set to Progressive scan? Does your TV support Progressive scan? Make sure to adjust your DVD player and TV to the appropriate setting. Also, make sure your DVD player can actually play DVD -,+,R or RW. There are plenty of DVD players out there that will not play these corectly. I use DVI and have never had a problem with compressed or uncompressed backups. Good luck finding a solution, don't let it kill the buzz.
