How about we put the whole thing behind us and talk about a free menu building program. Here's a link to a front end for dvdauthor:

I haven't used either this GUI or dvdauthor itself but it would be worth checking out.

Have you used this utility? It looks like you have to download "dvdauthor" and use one of 3 tools they have listed as a graphical interface. They are "DVDAuthorgui", "DVDStyler", and "GUI for dvdauthor".
Which GUI is the best? If you don't know, I'll download all three and try them for myself.
I've never used any dvdauthor related software so you should probably check them all out for yourself. This particular GUI was recommended on another forum for making menus to import into DVDReMake Pro.
this software has some errors, for example, if you want to use the advanced mode to create sub menus, it's impossible, especially for users who needs sub menus to create for subtitles, chapter selection and more.
the button which is used for adding menu doesn't show up !! i checked all the versions included, nothing works.
i would like to mention, if this error will be solved, then GUI DVDAuthor is the software i recommend most, cause it does one hell of a job, i just wish that it will be possible to add sub menus ...
<Sadsac>, I use DVDLab Pro, and I find it versatile and easy to use. You can have multiple movies, multiple menus, multiple switchable subtitles, chapters, and the works. And it is very customizable in terms of building your own menus, even better when used in conjunction with RealDraw for creating graphics embedded in menus.
In the actual version of GFD (gui for dvdauthor) you may not create submenus in the main menu (vmgm domain). This will come in the next version, probably in some weeks.
BUT:
If you enable 'Use titlesets', GFD automatically creates a titleset menu (where you may add chapters, set languages...) AND you may add additional submenus. The button 'Add menu' will therefore only show up if you are inside a titleset menu.
Steps:
1. Enable 'advanced mode' and 'Use titlesets'
2. Drag at least one video on the menu backgound
3. Load the titleset menu (click the [+] left of the node 'TitleSet1Menu' in the project explorer)
