What happens to the links on the menus that no longer exist on the newly copied DVD? So far, I've noticed one of two things: Illegal navigation error msgs on IFOEdit or the DVD just stops. How can the link loop back to the menu that called it (DVDXCOPY does this)?

I tryed your way and it did not work, i used VOBrator and look at the VOBid's, but INFOedit only showed VOB id 1, just 1, no list.
I've posted all my info on a other therad (About 4 down from this one), could you look at it for me and tell me if it's like your's and where i'm going worng please?

Unfortunately, none of this helps me when the VOB files on an episodic disk won't allow me to do anything other than read them with IFOedit. The PGC files only show up. And then I can clearly see where the two separate Miss Marple movies are. Problem is: It only gives one VOB ID per episode. How do I simply copy the PGC files I want (I don't really care about menus) so that I can burn them separately? Please help!

dude look at the VOB files themselves... some episodic discs (like Gundam Wing, X files Season 1, CSI Season 1, Mad about you Season 1) each 'episode' is its own set of vob/ ifo's... thus you don't need ifo edit at all except for that fix vts sectors once you copy 4ish gb over.
so say in mad about you for example... i could squeeze the first 6 episodes onto one dvd-r... so copied all those vob id's into a new folder, with menus etc opened up ifo edit and corrected vts sectors on each file... test in power dvd.. burn in nero whala.

Euhm...now this is ideal!! Use IfoEdit to stripe Vob ID's (VOB Extras button).
For example : We have a VTS01_*.* title set with 4 episodes with a total of 7gig.
That means 2 episodes on a DvD-R. Every episode has it's own VOB ID, so you can stripe out the VOB ID's you don't want -> for the first disc you want the first 2 episodes, so you have to stripe the last 2 episodes (which use VOB ID's 3 & 4??) and for the second disc you have to stripe the first 2 eps.....easy as eating pancakes

here is what i mean about watching out for one vob file per episode - look at this layout for CSI Disc 6
18,432 VIDEO_TS.BUP
18,432 VIDEO_TS.IFO
37,455,872 VIDEO_TS.VOB
45,056 VTS_01_0.BUP
45,056 VTS_01_0.IFO
76,802,048 VTS_01_0.VOB
1,073,739,776 VTS_01_1.VOB
836,771,840 VTS_01_2.VOB
43,008 VTS_02_0.BUP
43,008 VTS_02_0.IFO
30,720 VTS_02_0.VOB
1,073,739,776 VTS_02_1.VOB
872,632,320 VTS_02_2.VOB
43,008 VTS_03_0.BUP
43,008 VTS_03_0.IFO
30,720 VTS_03_0.VOB
1,073,739,776 VTS_03_1.VOB
952,176,640 VTS_03_2.VOB
30,720 VTS_04_0.BUP
30,720 VTS_04_0.IFO
30,720 VTS_04_0.VOB
910,305,280 VTS_04_1.VOB
18,432 VTS_05_0.BUP
18,432 VTS_05_0.IFO
30,720 VTS_05_0.VOB
131,899,392 VTS_05_1.VOB
18,432 VTS_06_0.BUP
18,432 VTS_06_0.IFO
30,720 VTS_06_0.VOB
24,459,264 VTS_06_1.VOB
Note how the VTS_01-04 are rather large, verifying in any vob/mpg player you will find they are each their own episode ( VTS_01_0 through 01_02 is the first episode) - no vob id splitting needs to be done in ifoedit at all... simply copy (via windows) the first two episodes into a new folder - that being vts_01_* and vts_02_* into a new folder along with all the other small vob'ids that you can squeeze onto a dvd-r (which end up being the menus and extra features)... THEN open up (the new folder you copied everything over into) ifoedit and go through each ifo correcting the sectors with the Get VTS Sectors button.

I think DvD Shrink is a little better at the moment for transcaling episodic dvd's

In what way is it better than DVD2One?
I must admit to not having heard of DVD Shrink before...
I had no problems in backing up BLACKADDER GOES FORTH using DVD2One 1.11
The video quality is all 'that'
Same as with the FRIENDS series 9.
Glad to hear that this DVD Shrink floats your boat Remco , but I'll stick with DVD2One (for now).
Peace

You've got BlackAdder dvd's COOL
Euhm...I always used DvD2One because it is a lot faster than InstantCopy7 when it comes to transcaling a dvd9 to dvd5...
Problem with DvD2One is that it doesn't support audio stream stripping (...deleting that is) in Full Disc mode (euh...yet). So I have to use IfoEdit to stripe the audio streams and then use DvD2One.
Shrink DvD allows me to stripe the audio streams in full disc mode!
For the quality issues : You CAN see difference between an original dvd and one created with Shrink DvD / DvD2One...That's why I mostly split dvd9's
P.S. this guide thread is pretty old :-)

Some say it's better than DVD2One and of course vice versa...

Using IFO Editor to strip VOB's for an episodic disk. Got a problem with Disc2. The main menu and chapter menus work, except that the DVD won't start by going into the menu...it goes to the first titleset which is a bonus feature.
VTS_02* contains the episode and works fine
VTS_01_0 has the menus
I did the Get Sectors functions on the VTS files and everything, but the DVD won't startup with the Main Menu! Help!

you guys really use those tools? i never grasped the idea of killing dvd quality in order to squeeze everything onto a single dvd-r... i mean dvd quality is 'bad enough' as is (when you compare to HDTV) that is only making life worse - if you ask me that is like finding the tools to start ripping audio cd's onto 8-tracks...

That post makes no sense to most people here , as not everyone is fortunate enough to own a HDTV.
And included to that is the fact that many of us here at aD do not believe in a 2 disc solution.
Plus this thread is s0 old most people are probably using different software to what has been mentioned !!
You didnt mention your own method of back up zhenyalix (?)

oh not to offend - i don't own a HDTV either ;) just personally don't feel a loss of quality for a single disc is an acceptable solution either... for the meantime my best workaround is a multidisk dvd player... i was just saying i can't believe cutting quality is so widely acceptable - expecially when HDTV's will eventually become the norm - furtheremore dual layer discs / burners will eventually be out as well thus i will be able to take my oldschool dvd-r backups and convert them back to a single disc with absolutly no quality loss - i mean for the mean time it stinks to have to use two dvd-r's.. but i think that is the lesser of the two evils when the alternative is lower quality video. - my method of backup... latest copy of DVD Decrypter and rip with ifoedit095... oldschool - check my work with power dvd and have a nice day. :-p

As to the quality loss by being on one disc , I rip Movie Only myself (w/ DVD Decrypter).
DVD2One to compress minimally & add the need structure (much like GET VTS SECTORS in IFOEdit ;-)
Burn baby burn !!
