I dont Have a mod chip. I would need Swap Magic and the tool that comes with it? Or is there another way?
Also, I have most of the programs needed. Would DVD+R work? or would i need dbl layered DVDs?
Im trying to read as many threads as I can but there are so many...
The copies I made from HDLoader dont work even tho I followed directions posted elsewhere. My PS2 says to place a PS2 format disc in the bay. What did I do wrong?

The Above post was me, The missus used the pc without me know it when I was asleep and didn't log out. Grrrrrrrrr. Anyways.
nemesees, As far as I know it depends on the size of the game as to whether you will ned a dual layer disk. Dunno much more about copying ps2 games. Sorry, I'm more of an Xbox man.

nemesees- i have your back man, i can't tell you how to download and burn games, only make backups, gotta keep it legal man. burning ps2 games is easy once you get familiar with it. first off, get a set of single layered dvd-r disc. ps2s sometimes will read dvd+r disc but they read them about as retarded as a gangsta would talk ya know? anyway, all you need is one program (dvd decrypter). simply put your game in the dvd drive and open DVD Decrypter, click (mode), then iso, then read. name the file desination and wait for your media to get ready. once ready, just press the button of the disc going into a hard drive. your computer will make two files in you C:\ folder. after that is finished, exchanged your game with your dvd-r disc. open DVD Decrypter back up and click (mode), then iso, then write. choose the mds file of the game your looking to burn, make sure you are burning at 2x which is under settings. then just use your swap magic disc or mod chip to load your new backup and play your heart out. the deal with the dual layered disc is that single layered dvds hold 4.7 gb of data. dual layered disc hold like 8.5 the only two games i've came across that required dual layered disc were god of war and grand tourismo 4. does that about wrap it up or do you still need assistance?

thanks brandonb. I meant to say 'backup' on that previous post. Because my kids leave the PS2 discs laying all over the floor and they get scratched and destroyed in no time at all, I tried making a backup copy of a game but that didnt work. It was a test anyway. We all know we learn from trial and error and the first try is almost never succesful.
When that didnt work, I just read more posts and I think i finally got an idea on what to do. Im just waiting for my SwapMagic/tool kit and the fliptop cover for the system. I got that in case the tool becomes too much of a hassle. Plus I have 2 PS2s and Im sure it will come in handy sometime.
The only other inquiry I have right now is : I read in a post somewhere that some games can only be backed up onto a CD while others can be backed up into DVDs. My question is... How would I distinguish the difference. How would I know what type of media discs to back-up my games onto?
