I used Memorex 8x DVD-R discs
stop useing memorex I had the same problem and after asking like you did, I use told to use verbatim disk because there the best for ps2, but you need to find out if you need r+ or r-. If you have a newer ps2 use r+, I have the slim line ps2 and since I started use verbatim r+ discs I never had a problem, the thing is evey disc has a code in it that you can find out with DISC ID,and memorex disc have the worst code. All the Code Dose Is let you know how good the media is, and verbatim has one of the hichest. and I would start useing DVD DECRYPTER to read and burn your games It a great program and easy to use.

well you have all the right tools and its easy with DVD Decrypter.

Quick way to copy a game. Assuming you have the original game dvd and want to back it up.

step#1

open dvd decryptor then go to MODE>ISO>READ and then it will copy the game and make an iso file on your pc hdd.

Step#2

when that finishes go to MODE>ISO>WRITE and then select the iso file that decryptor just maade. It will burn the file to the dvd and presto you are done.

Simple as that.

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs

f3rg, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS,if you have a slim line ps2 you need a flip top so you can change the disk ,here in the us it's like $10-$15 dollars.you can find it on the internet too,If you do have it all you to is put in one of the disc if its a dvd back up you use the dvd disc, most game for the ps2 are dvd, and for the ones that are cds you just use the cd disc, once the swap magic loads you'll see the load screen it will say load program and at that point you just open the flip top and take out the swap magic disc and put in the backup of your game and close the lid, and push x. and your done

Ok my bad, I should have said you have to buy a different flip top for your ps2,If you do a search online you will see what I'm saying, what you do is take off the cover of your ps2 remove the flip top you have on right now and put on the new one you buy, what it will let you do is it can open just like the one you have right now but it will also open with out you having to push the eject button that makes your flip top open, instead it has think of it as like two flip tops ontop of each other, looks like the square one you have right now and cut out the middle of the cover in a circle and that circle also flips up without you pushing the eject button, the reason why you have to have this is every time you push the eject button the ps2 reads that the flip top was opened and when you close it the ps2 will start to read the disc to find out if it is a valid ps2 disc, when you burn games you can't burn that part because a ps2 game is not a burned disc it is compressed disc, what is why you need swap magic to boot the game,so like I said since it checks the disc every time you (open/close) the flip top,you need to have a way to swap out the swap magic disc for your burned back up with out opening the flip top, once you see the new flip top cover you will see what I'm telling you. OK

Now first you said

now you say you downloaded it or copied it guess what it WILL NOT WORK it's just like the ps2 game, swap magic is a compressed disc thats why you need it to load you back up,you can not burn swap magic, but if you want to waste your time and disc trying go right ahead, You have to buy swap magic, It's well worth it and if you think I'm wrong just do a search here at afterdawn under swap magic and you will see many, many, many, people have asked this and tried to burn swap magic (I was one of them just to see if it was true, and IT IS)good luck
