AMD vs Intel question.

I currently have two systems the one on my sig and the other is AMD Athlon 64 FX55, MSI K8N Neo4/SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI, 4Gb Kingston pc 3200, 2 GeForce 6800GT, 2 WD raptors sata 10,000 rpm. The Intel exceeded my expectations and out preforms the amd in almost all areas, but its not an overwhelming difference. Like someone posted earlier its all about the video card when it comes to gaming. My 7800gtx smokes my two geforce 6800GT.

Well just to let you know, I'm not a really big gamer. I play my ocassional game but I work more with video and audio. Still I want the best and so far AMD seems to be as far as I can read.

About the 2 raptors in raid, thanx for the heads up on the noise factor. I'll keep that in mind. Not sure what raid to use since I have not used sata yet I have to learn what is the difference between raid 0 and raid 1. To be honest I am not much concerned with the noise thing, not unless it can really get annoying. After all with this much power I'm gonna need some serious ventilation. And if I plan on OC I figure with all the money spent so far, a water cooling system should not be out of the question but fans will still remain as well.

I hope to keep you guys posted on this adventure. That's if my wife doesnt kill me first after she sees the bill.
