- some of this stuff don't look right. DMA is off on one device, though i'm more concerned that the ATAPI drivers aren't loaded. That's where the problem is.

i know you haven't had the specific error but i'm trying to rule things out. i have that patch installed. you should periodically use windows update to install patches for the trillions of bugs in windows anyway.
as i keep posting, your drivers for the IDE channels aren't 'sticking'. when you go thru the DMA fixes we've detailed a few times, does Windows ask for the CD or anything, ie what does it do when it asks for the files for the IDE controllers ?

it doesnt ask for anything... when i go to device manager and go to my ide cable listings..it says unknown device instead of listing the names of the ide cables..theres an yellow exclamation and when i try to install or uninstall the drivers or even update them... it says i need to restart for this to take effect..so i do and when im restarting it says that new hardware is found...then it comes up with the error, hardware cannot be installed, then it does the final error of, hdc could not be installed = driver is not intended for this platform.
when i go to device manager adn click on the first unknown device ( primary ide cable) and i hit properties in the general tab of the primary ide cable it says driver not installed code 28 then it says to reboot but i keep rebootin and nothing happens...this is where its always at..its not changing no matter wat i do... :S

all i can think of at this point is reinstalling Windows. for now you could reinstall over the top of existing installation so it'd leave all your programs in place. If that doesn't solve it i'd be tempted at this point to format and start again. I work in Unix and a reinstall is nigh on unneeded on 'proper' systems, but in Windows it's something to always prepare to have to do when stuff goes screwy. Unless someone else can figure out what's happened to your drivers
