u keep saying cause your cpu is 400 mhz(crying)
well if you have 16xburners and great internet to w get the AVI files
just go to frys buy a motherboard cpu combo---for like 99dollars
it will atleast bring you to the 1.8 mhz range----

spend wisely my young jedi

also i use TMPGEnc to convert my files to mpeg 2 then i use dvdmovie factory 3 to build the dvd--(ITS SIMPLE)
and your audio is not converting because--(my thoughts)

1: your cpu cant handle the excess of converting they recomend atleast a 700 mhz

2: most DivX or downloaded files and their accompanying codecs
are different then ripping a movie yourself cause every one uses their own presets--- just keep trying new programs and learning
try DVD2AVI that takes dvd VOB files and seperates the sound and video then put them in TMPGEnc and sync em --just try things

3: my best opinion 4 you---upgrade all first cpu, programs etc...

divx 2 AVI------i use tmpgence average time 3 hrs 2.2 mhz cpu
to build the dvd adobe encore 1.5

but like divx2avi programs etc.. should only be about 1:30 to 2 hrs
it varies --but 11 hours is rough----upgrade bro---collect cans something

you keep mentioning that you are using memorex media.......... thats one of your other problems......... try some verbatim, fuji, tayio yuden, or maxell (made in japan dash media)....
plus.... the AVI file you say you have, i am assuming its a downloaded movie off the net from some shareware application.... always remember this........ the quality will only be as good as it was uploaded. i suggest looking on those sites for such files labeled as (dvd rip, DivX, XviD, or dvd copy) to increase better results as well...... not that i ever download movies off the net ;-)

Does everything sound and look ok when played on your pc from your hdd prior to burning to the disc. Also I would definately ditch the memorex discs. Read my sig and do a search on memorex media and look at all the bad reviews.

@ Hursty and any others of you with problems concerning black boxes/borders while using DivXtoDVD.

A new version has come out of DivXtoDVD fixing a few of many bugs:

Here is a list of the changes that have been made--but all to say those black borders should not be appearing if they are please contact VSO to let them know the bug still persists:

DivxToDVD 1.99.14

* Fixes:
* add chapter insertion that could lead to wrong tree structure
* Wrong format in time display in time controls
* Wrong resizing of VCD/SVCD sources
* Support of some audio AAC format that use to freeze the engine during conversion

+Added:
+Relative placement of subtitles (Bottom of STT in percentage of the
total height)
+Support for alternative code pages to load the srt files. this allow
full support of cyrillic,hebrew,chinese,japanese,... etc
+Setting to prevent automatic ejection of media at burn completion
