In all honesty This phoen can not be unlocked by a code. Sending it away seems to be the only option

Only NOKIAs( most) can be unlocked remotely. All other phones will have to be unlocked either by the provider remotely or by a professional in your area or check out www.iunlock.com.

I am also interested on details on how this code is generated. Is it generated by some sort of encryption algorithum based on the IMEI, or is there just a data base of unlock codes you can look up? I like to tinker with things, so any information you would like to provide will be greatly appreceiated.
