Ha, ha, ha!

It is pretty lame, probably a C+ by my ranking but it certainly is not hard to look at Jolie for an hour and thirty-nine minutes...

Anydvd and Nero recode are the best combo.. seems to be a slightly better quality over using shrink ( which isnt updated anymore )
I have made over 10 flawless copies with the AnyDVD, Nero recode combo. Just did Mr and Mrs smith without any probs at all. Thanks to all who recommended this combo in other threads, I have never turned back =)

cheers!

Hi all,

I used DVDD and Shrink. Watched the movie this evening and around the 1/4 mark of the movie it paused / froze for a few seconds. The rest of the movie was fine. Could it be the media? I'm using the Maxell's DVD-R made in Taiwan. I read on another thread that media made in Taiwan is crap and that Sony's work well.

I should point out that my firmware is up to date. But several movies I have burned in the past do have short pauses. I have always used Maxell. I also burned War of the Worlds and no problems at all.

@soundmax,
what speed do you burn the movie at, and are you multitasking while you are burning?

Hi blivetNC,

No I am not multitasking. I'm very careful to just let the system encode and burn.

I might try different media. Just purchased 50 pak of Maxell but have not opened it yet. Think I'll return it.

I recommend FUJI MIJ's as they are the best I've seen in years. Used to be a Ritek fan until Doc Ty introduced me to Taiyo Yudens. Try them, you'll love them!

I used decrypter + shrink NO AnyDVD installed. No problems, yo dude with the 24 minutes burn with decrypter + Nero. I noticed you have a 2.6 pentium 4. I used shrink for the burn set at 2x write speed and it took me 18 minutes to burn. I used a pentium 4 2ghz, I think something is wrong with your system at 4x it should be alot faster.

blivetNC,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been reading about the Verbatims as well. I'll have to experiment.

Have you tried my mini guide yet? Give it a shot (DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F to rip the movie into your hard drive). Mr. and Mrs. Smith shouldn't be hard to rip -- it didn't carried any special protections whatsoever. It looks like you've got a bad pressed that's all. My suggestion is to exchange it for another one.

I was wondering which version of Nero that was that you showed directions for. Is it free? Or do you know a link so I can get it?

@star321

I'm using Nero 7 Premium (7.0.1.2), but you can use Nero 6 Ultra Edition (6.6.0.18) is really great and can do everything just like Nero 7. I think you can download Nero 6 here at Afterdawn, or you can try the trial from Nero 7 (get it directly from Nero's website).
