If you have 2 drives - put the dvd your ripping in the reader then put the blank in the burner. Clone on the last step will list the drives to choose from to burn - just click on the burner - it will default to this one the next time you use.
If you only have 1 drive insert the movie - let it do it's thing - the drive will open and clone will ask you to insert the blank.
I'm not a 1click fan. Used it and unistalled it. A have a friend who is though so everyone has their preferences. Clone imo gives you more options.

If reader and burner share the same IDE channel, this create a slowing of data flux between reader and burner.

On the fly copy is possible only if reader and burner are on different IDE channels.

Another possibility is that 1:1 copy is not possible because source disc is bigger than destination, so is necessary compression of the movie. Even with big CPU power, this operation is not possible on the fly, because video compression require many time.
So, if you want to burn on the fly, the file should not need compression and the ripper should be able to read 2x faster than the burner. I would advise to copy the files on HDD and then burn the DVD. But like binkie says "everyone has their preferences"

I had the same problem with the Nero update. It quits burning with Shrink. I went back one version of Nero and everything is ok. I think there is a problem with the Nero update when using Shrink. I don't know if Nero will even look into this.

keyrom - it looks like you got things worked out? BTW those are bbmayo guides, he has done an excellent job of compiling/creating various guides for different methods of burning. I highly recommend you bookmark that page.
