Nah, KC36330 mentioned this awhile back, when rebuilding a game and taking out data, the data is closer together on the disc and causes the laser some issues. It's actually not a great idea to rebuild if it's not necessary. It's a little more technical than that, but I don't feel like locating the exact post. The other option is your laser could be on the way out, does it do this with all backups, or just games you rebuild?

shauntay, (Teammodders.com/sigs/d64adbd495d4f6d0d79243bbcd2898a0.gif
Ps2 slim v12
swap magic 3.6 and slim tool
over 230 working backups to date(still got the originals)
media - taiyo yuden dvd-r8x)
This is on your sig and if your useing R- with a slimline ps2 your laser is going to work harder than if you were to be useing R+.

v.4 PS2's and laser should work fine with DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-ROM. It's highly recommended that your burner supports booktyping/bitsetting if you use DVD+R's. In general Decon is right, DVD-R's have fewer compatibility issues with most version PS2's.

Due to the legal status of modchips in the UK, that might be tough. I believe xmodds.com ships anywhere in the world. He's a member of AD, you may want to PM him for more info.

I DL a PAL version of black, used paltontsc to patch, which it said it patched 4 places, done.(adr doesn't work for me, don't know why). then burnt with DVD Decrypter at 2x and 4x and the result was: everything on the screen was double. double words and double vision, literally.
anyone know how to correct this? higher speed burning maybe-8x?

It seems that this happens when patching the PAL version of Black to NTSC. I've come across this a couple times. There isn't much you can do, try adjusting Swap Magic's video mode to NTSC.

Hey Tokijin,
do you ever have a problem of a disc(taiyo yuden) suddenly not working and crashing and unable to upload to DVD Decrypter without a read error message? Is this a ps2 laser prob or a disc prob? it was working fine and all of a sudden..

That probably means the disc is scratched or dirty. Try ripping it with Alcohol 120%. Be patient, it may take a couple hours or more, depending on how badly the disc is scratched.
88. Q. How do I burn PS2 DVD games with Alcohol 120%?
A. Ripping the game to your Hard Drive:
1. Insert your disc.
2. Open Alcohol 120%.
3. Click Image Making Wizard.
4. Check Ignore read errors, select your recorder, leave the never seperate box alone.
5. Click Next. Select a destination for the game. Click Start.
Once the process is complete, you'll get an mds and an mdf file. Click finish, if necessary.
Burning the game to DVD:
1. Insert your blank disc.
2. Right click the mdf file.
3. Select Image Burning Wizard.
4. Select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x.
5. Click next.

Mine seems to work fine. Burned it with ImgBurn at 4x to 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. Watch those Arita DVD+R's, they're shite. They're made by Ritek, and have caused a lot of people issues. I'd upgrade to Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. At some point there'll be a game you can't get to work. Don't say you haven't been warned.
86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
