okey somehow i managed to get AR max,
it loads up fine on my ps2
I have a NTSC J and 70006 version of PSTwo
i put usbadvn.elf file on mem stick, media player detects it, when it shows up, I hit X, then it goes blank screen, nothing showing...
is it usual and is it the time when I should connect the Usb HDD
or its supposed to show something else before I connect the usb hdd?

Wow thanks for the quick response! Am well i only have one hard drive and have a lot of crap i need on it so i though if i could just make a partition for the ps2 games then it'd just be cheaper and more handy then buying another Hard Drive!

Hi
my apology if its a silly question
but as MasterChu said to use Ace's guide to launch usbadvn.elf file
that does mean that we use usbadvn.elf file at the place where he use cogswap.elf ...is it right ?
Also ..supposing everything works fine and usb hdd works
then do I have to reboot the ps2 to change to another game from hdd ?
if i reboot., do i have to repeat the launching elf procedure again...
means loading AR max first, then exploit cd and then press the button assigned to usbadvn.elf ?
please clear me
Thanks

Actually the exploit(this is the Memory Card method) is a save that is uncrushed using MAX Memory and is used for uLaunchELF with all the ELFs you want in the save. Remember, since the false entry in Title.db fails to cause a buffer overflow in all PlayStation 2s starting from Version 11, you can't use a PlayStation(black base CD-ROM) game to load this exploit. Now(off topic but have to get it out), please keep in mind, when I say PlayStation plain and simple, I'm talking about the old one, not the PlayStation 2. I'm tired of always writing the type of disc, PSX, or PSone.

hawkps2,
You have to buy the swap magic disks. They are what you use to boot up the .elf file off of the hard drive.

Thanks Masterchu for clarifying me.
Just for information, does usbadvn.elf shows anything on screen first when I load it using exploit cd.
I mean how do I know wheather the usbadvn.elf file loaded up successfully, before connecting the HDD.
Regards.

The first screen that shows up should show
An orange or such screen that says
USBADVANCE FREE Edition
From PS2HD or something like that
then in should take you to the screen with the list of games on the hard drive.

Hey I followed the Instructions and this is my problem:
I am Using an iPod 60GB as a USB Hard-drive,
i followed the steps (the iPod is already a FAT32 System)
and in the Ps2 it says no USB found?(this is after USB loader has loaded from Swap MAgic 3.6) is there a way to make it recognise the iPod or should i give up?
Thanks, This site/forum is very informative and helpful!

Yes, I did get USB Advance.ELF to come up on the PS2 with Swap Magic,
But when the software comes up, then it doesn't see my iPod, it says insert USB hard drive or something like that
Maybe the reason for this is because, USB Exreme (the computer software) couldn't find my iPod, so i copied the game to the C drive, then copied those files onto the iPod, if this is why it doesn't work
what can i do to make it work?

Sorry, i have tried it from all of these methods:
- from iPod Swap Magic folder
- from USB flash drive
- from a CD with a Dummy file, a System file, and elf file
They all worked into getting the USB Advance
Apparently the last two you dont use but i did put it on the iPod and it still didn't work

What are you using to put the games on the hard drive. The best way is to use usbextreme and make sure you select the correct type of media.
Ex. DVD for DVD
CD for CD.
