most use the same dye, so i would say they are pretty equal if you can find a Verbatim disc that has a media code of TYG02
a great online site that i have used is http://www.supermediastore.com/ they guarantee that their Taiyo Yudens are 100% authentic, and they give the media codes for the discs on their site. along with having great prices. The 100 pack of TY i bought was $37.95
these would probably work well
http://www.supermediastore.com/verbatim-8x-dvd-r-media-94852-ther... they have metal AZO dye which is really good.
For some reason my DVD+R Drive doesn't seem to take Verbatim.
Also, I donno what all the hate is on Memorex (I aint defending them or anything like that... but...) I've never had any problems with Memorex DVD+R's. Right now im using Maxell DVD+R though.
Again, read and learn. Memorex are fine for other medai players such as ur typical dvd player (I still dont recommend them though), but the ps2 laser is very picky. You might be able to boot games, but keep in mind you all need a new laser after a while.
I think i used memorex for some weeks in a row, like 3 or 4. Do you think i might have busted the laser? I kinda do think my loading times are taking longer even in verbatims
I dont think using them in the short term will be detrimental to your laser, but for long periods of time, u might see a difference. My best advice is just to stop using them.
