hodab, I meant like ur paying too much for hardware that shouldn't cost that much, I don't know much about the intel core duo but from what I've heard, it makes less heat, takes less power, and is faster (and it is a dual-core CPU) but let me give you some tips on saving money. Buy a 80 GB HDD and make up for it by buying a pack of 100 DVD-/+R's. Maybe instead of a monitor, you should connect ur comp to a tv. And watch out for prices! Your parts seem very expensive! Tell me individually the price of each part and I will tell you where you went wrong.
P.S.
How does a gfx card slow down system performance? Doesnt it just give you uglier graphics in games, etc? This is important for me to know...for video editing. I just need to know why is a video card important for video editing?
If I insult you...don't get offended...my insults are "friendly insults"...I know this sounds stupid (ridiculous) but I am fet up of writing, "no offense" in my posts...
My Comp: (will add specs later)

s3a: no a slow GPU doesn't slow down normal performance, but there'd be a reason for having a graphics card, and in such programs (usually games) performance would be pretty slow. It is important to have a graphics card for video editing, but you don't necessarily need a fast one. ATi cards are better at video editing, as previously discussed. I wouldn't recommend cutting on storage space, the price difference is minimal, neither would I recommend using a TV rather than a monitor unless an HDTV just happens to be lying around.
hodab: I know the sting of that too, VAT where I live doesn't help
mrcapdown: another UK aD user, wow. a 2.8Ghz Dual core is alright, but not what I would have chosen. It's also not where I would have chosen to buy it, but for £68 you did pretty well, if it all works!

It's pretty good. I can't compare this system to one exactly the same without it, so I don't know exactly how much faster it is, but with my X2 4200, I can boot windows in about 30-40 seconds, was a lot less before SP2 and drivers...
