Well Bigtoxy,
the last nedia I bought from Office Depot coded out as RICONJPN, not our beloved Ritek media, so buyer beware. I have enough Vebs to keep me going well into next year. BTW, I got a postcard from them the otherday, take $20.00 off a purchase of $40.00 or more, may have to use it during the Fiday sales. Note to self, proof read post before posting.

According to CNN, in past week or so, Wal Mart is supposed to sell a 42" HD Plasma tv for $998. I know it's not media, but I thought some of you might like to know. I think it's a great deal!

blivetNC: Here's the codes that i ran into from Office Depot Plus format media:
OFFICE DEPOT:
+8X MADE IN TAIWAN: RITEK-R03
+16X MADE IN TAIWAN: RITEK-P16
+16X MADE IN TAIWAN: RICOHJPN-R03
All of them pretty decent. My only complaint was running to 6 bad discs in a row on 1 spindle of Ricohjpn-R03- which was a manufacturing flaw. I'd burn any of those all day long!
Was that $20 off orders over $40? I'm thinking you shifte the 2 on the keyboard.

@saugmon, staples 19in samsung wide lcd 129.00 after rebates for black friday also i/o magic int/ext dual format and double layer burners 19.95 after rebate(manufactured by liteon)I have two already when they were onsale last year for the same price. wd 400 gb 16mb ext hard drive 99.00 after rebate. hope this helps.

yeah, they are the same codes I have seen, but unfortunately the past two times I have bought the 16X, they were RICOHJPN's.
Yes, it was a shifty Error.
I don't know if everyone is getting this postcard, or just people who have signed up for their Office Depot Advantage cards and not used them in a while?

blivetNC- Well I've been doing a Saugmon - Almost ! everytime that OfficeDepot would put their media onsale ( 50's or 100's ) I'm not a big fan of the 75/25 split spindles ! Besides I was burning CDr's way before I began studying DVD-ology LOL! so as you could guess I'm pretty flush in Cdr media ! DVD's getting there but dvd media is like Pokeman's" Gotta get'em all !" and like the Saugmeister said -some are Riteks , Some are Ricohjpns ! The 8X OD media has pretty much gone the way of the Dodo here ! ( tae -Kwan Dodo's attack ) LOL! But 16x is everywhere ! Have'nt gotten to my 16X Ricohjpns yet but I am Down to my last 2 TDK-4X DVD+R's ( Ricohjpn R01's and found them very good ! ) hopefully they arte atleast as good as the 4x's ! I've had good results with riteks in the 8x 's so hopefully the 16's are great as well ! Saugmon seems to like them anyhow !Even though It's pre-black friday I may have to hit OfficeDepot for some .25cent Sony's I saw some Mij 16X 's Sony @ Walgreens in Gretna La. t0day but were'nt on sale (50pks ) maybe someone will put them on sale & i could pricematch ( DVD-R's though ) The DVD+R'S were MIT's anyhow Nice hearing from y'all again - Good luck, Happy Burning , & happy Holidays ! I've had fantastic luck with the Ritek 16X, I was hoping that Office Depot would go back to using Ritek again as their sole supplier, but looks like the bean counters have taken over control of the operations once again.
Hopefully the 75/25 packs will be Ritek this time, not sure of what they were last time, does anyone remember?

blivetNC- Well I would'nt take what I say as gospel - Sometimes I don't even believe me myself ! But I thought I Recall someone saying something about them Being Fuji's ( And no unfortunbately Not MIJ Fuji's ) I don't recall the exact posting but I think it's probably somewhere in the media postings If I run across it I'll let you know ! This applied only to the Mixed Veg. packs - ( 75/25) DVD/CD only far as I know !the Straight OD DVD media PACKS are Riteks or Ricohjpns as you already Know. well buddy time for me to bounce ! later my friend ciao!

BlivetNC - here you go " Those combo packs were on sale last week for $14.99...Good price then, not so good price now.. I picked up a spindle of the R- and the R+. The DVD R- are made by Fuji, the DVD R+ are Ritek. Both are good media, not the best. Some burners may be picky on burning them. It seems made in Japan burners favor made in Japan media, and made in Taiwan or China burners favor Taiwan discs. Wait a week or two and they will be on sale again at 14.99 then buy them." I think given a deck that can booktype - I would favor the Riteks ( DVD+R's in the Split packs 75/25) I like fuji but have only used their MIJ Disc ( Memories ....... ) anyhow good luck & happy Thanksgiving Y'all - Turkey Bowling ( Crashing noises ) it's a strike !!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the bright side One per Customer means Saugmon won't clear the shelves of them !again LOL! - and nobody says you can't hit more than one store Right? Then you make the mail in Rebate to your family members, cousins , friends ect.. and tell them cash the check & mail you the money ! TaDa !!!! Damn! I'm Clever & modest too ! LOL! Too bad it 's s store brand media - I like Officedepot Media - but if they were Maxells or sony or any national brand you could pricematch @ wallyworld - I got me a mess'o Maxells /riteks last BF that way Well all except for one 25/30 pak of maxell printables that coded out CMC-( I save those for experiments that could result in coasters or as Freebies for fair weather friends ( Read MooChers here!!!!!) They want a free movie sure ( Of course I can't garruantee it's longevity or Playback quality Hee ,Hee, Hee!!!! LOL - Hey I'm a nice guy I could put it on a Ultran Disc with a paper label even ! LOL! Generally I just use 'em to experiment though ! But like I said being OD media is available only @ OD the whole pricematch Thang is a Moot point ! Clocks ticking - Y'all - How about a pre- black friday sale on Fuji's 100Ct. spindles 8X DVD+R for $ 24.99 + free shipping ! ya' still gotta pay the tax ! Sale was/ is friday & saturday kinda like now !!!!!!!!!! Am almost tempted Being as they are the 8x's they may be older stock whether or they are MIJ's I can't say. Wish I would've seen this sale earlier I would have went to Bestbuy for myself & seen !one way or the other ? I am tempted but I know where some sony taiyo's are & if walgreen does pricematching watch out! That's if someone puts sony's onsale this week ? It's never a bad time , But sometimes are better ! Wifey slipped and is on bed rest , getting better but still needs a helping had - Or to Quote Ringo Starr " I got 2 strong arms I can help " so I help ! But I'll be out & about tomorrow so we'll see ! Not running low - but cases are like DVD media & pokemons ( Gotta Get'em all LOL! ) Have to pay some bills rehistered to pay online but have to wait 6 days before I can use online bill pay -God I love S**RS LOL! so I get to see the big city WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow I'll make a lil' looky loo & see! stopped in @ BB Thursday night & saw oodles of cases hopefully headed towards the dumpster ? There wasn't much on sale that I wanted to get up at 4 am this morning.I went in about 9 am. I did get lucky on a couple of personal dvd players that wal-mart had for $50. Had to go to customer service for them because some people had more than they were allowed.
Staple's had that 20" lcd monitor for $180. Heck of a buy

Staples was a Zoo this AM,
This is the first and last time I will go to a Black Friday sale. I got what I wanted, 1 Gig sandisk Cruzer $7.99, 200 Gig hard drive $19.99. They only had 2 of the 20" monitors and one poor grandma had to fight off a couple of rowdy people to get hers out the door. Their early bird specials were picked off the table in oh about 5 minutes, the hard drives lasted like 2 minutes, flash drives like 90 seconds, Playo $2.99 disks, still there. Never figured that Staples would be crowded today, got there 20 minutes before opening was about 20th in line at opening, got to watch all the people across the lot packing in giant HDTVs into their pick up trucks and driving away with them unsecured. I wonder how many of them did not survive the trip home.
The wife reported that Target, Cicuit City and Kohl's were worse, but again she is a professional black friday shopper and will enjoy all this nonsense. They didn't have any of the PS2 wireless controllers at Target and almost had a riot. There was a stampede at another mall at the 12 midnight opening. Oh the humanity of it all. Next year, I'm sleeping in. Leave the insanity to the professional sharks.

I got my shop on early - up @ 3Am ,@ BestbuY for 4.00am in @ 5:am out at 5:30 am - like last year they pulled the old bait & switch rooutine ! was hoping to get the HP laptop with lightscribe burner built in ,but sold out thursday ! No biggy got the Wallyworld Compaq on 11/05/2006 . Really was going to pick up the Dynex Disc for $5.00 per 100ct. tub I know they could ber crap but I was willing to gamble off chance that they coulf be riteks ! Got in the store everybody has 3 or ore spindles in their basket (limit 2 per customer) ask a bestbuy employee and he says they gave them away for free and were out ! found some & ask a bestbuy employee to get them for me and she starts going on about them not being the ones on sale - Bullsquash ! 16x Dynex DVD-R 's SO I say here and give them back and leave - for more Bf sales - Bought lot's of movies cheap @ wallyworld ! Toys( Rc Trucks ) for Grandkids ! some 600 thread count sheets ect... No media though ! Got my verb on already !I literally shopped till I dropped ! well almost anyways !Bestbuy, Lowes , Wallyworld X2 (Twice) Samsclub, Target, Walgreens , Circuit City,& OFFICEDEPOT,Biglots! Whew ! I am glad it's over!
I was able to Get a Verbatim 2 Gig USB Drive for $24.99, Sweet w/Lifetime warranty too. Also got a 50 pack spindle of Verbatim DVD+R 16x for.........$7.99! No Rebates. Check this out, I went to Office max for them to "Price Match" the Verbs, the Lady that checked me out entered $7.99 when I specifically told Her they were $12.99. When I got out to the car, I looked at my receipt, huh, She made a boo boo and priced the Verbs at $7.99. Will I lose sleep over that one? Nope. Anyway, I am Glad it is over! I hope everyone that ventured out today came Home SAFE!
