Again just wondering if I installed my OEM of Nero that came with my BenQ burner, I know it is an old version but when I installed it almost a year ago, I had no issues.
The OEM is 6.3.1.23B
Would it be silly to try to use this version.
I don't know what the repercussions are of older programs and Any Dvd or simply burning a b/u cd of existing programs which is what my manager wants me to do as i have about 30 cds of work programs that i need to do b/u cd's for and i have never ever tried to do this.
As I mentioned we do have other programs for dvd burning, however i wondered if this version of Nero installed alright whether i could use it as an emergency program available if we had issues with our other burning software??
I would appreciate very much experienced comments, thankyou.
As I mentioned i did update this OEM, to what version I don't recall; and I had no problems as what occurred here and I have not added any new programs to this notebook; however I do know that the version update was fairly old but it was still working fine for burning dvds.
Just thought that I would add that.
Cheers.

Since that oem version worked b/4 with the other programs you have installed I would go ahead and give it a shot.
I won't think there were be any repercussion using this version w/ like AnyDVD or others.
You can use Nero Express to copy the cd's. Have it set to CD (top right hand scroll bar) and use the 'copy entire disc' option.
Install it and give it a whirl.
Keep us posted on hopefully a succesful outcome :)

Thanks for the reply, you don't think the antiquated version of Nero will be problematic??
I guess what I mean to say is whether or not it would be consistent in burning, I noted that you mentioned simply to "copy cd" for my backups for my program cd's that my boss is after me to get done.
Is there anything I have to do in that process as i did some reading awhile back and it mentioned something about "finalizing" a cd or else there would be an error? Does that apply here? Also with copy cd, can I copy a music cd here as well and again what about finalization of it too?
I included an item in here earlier about a problem with Any Dvd not recognizing and working with my external BenQ 162I burner after all of this uninstalling of Nero, Clone Dvd, and Any Dvd and Movie Factory which all were corrupted while I was trying to uninstall Nero. I resolved that problem by disconnecting the power to the external burner for several seconds and it is now working properly with Any Dvd. I thought that I should mention that.
Thought that I would ask this question re version .18, as several members from other forums said that they did their d/l of this vers. from I believe they said Soft Pedia and not directly from Nero and had the same horror story as me. They mentioned that the Nero site has only the 6.6.0.14 and wondered why Nero would get rid of their latest version and leave this one for d/l.
I posted to them that I was told by a Nero forum that there were issues with this version and so they asked me why it would be left on Neros site for d/l if they want to keep their clients satisfied, of course I have no answer.
What really is the problem with vers .14, I mean error wise and why is not desireable to d/l?? I guess prior more stable versions to this one are not available from Nero if this one version is a headache.
These owners of version 6 said they attempted even more d/ls from Softpedia and uninstalls and Reg cleans and still no luck.
Have you googled the vers .18 from where it still is and it is not at Neros site, I just wanted your opinion all of this.
Again, many thankyous.
I guess one can't contact Nero to get the Link from them since they want the use to d/l the .14 version???
The other members from the other forums wondered if this Soft pedia 2 Links were corrupt?? and thus the source of the headaches.
They wondered if Nero did not like them posting the Links.
Thankyou very much once again.

Hi Appa
I've been using Nero it was only for cd's. Problems have been minimal though I had a few w/ 7 that have been fixed w/ the newer versions.
So if the older version gave you no problems before and you were happy with it than installing it again should still hold true. Or you can try installing 6.6.0.18 again.
The one main thing w/ the last version of 6 - 6.6.1.4 was the 'breaking' of the autoburn w/ Shrink. Many users that have both like this feature.
6.6.1.4 is the only version that I know of that won't autoburn w/ Shrink.
The other thing that some users experienced was high memory usage in this version. Can't really remember all the details - think if the pc had 512mb or under in ram and on some processors it might happen.
I used 6.6.1.4 for awhile and had no problems. Only reason I went back to 6.6.0.18 was the autoburn bit w/ Shrink.
Once the version is updated Nero like most software companies only host on their website the latest version. Sometimes there's a 'backdoor' to get a previous version from their servers but it not posted on their website. My guess is there would have to be major bugs that many experienced for Nero to pull the latest version down and post a previous one.
I've downloaded from Softpedia before and didn't have any problems - not saying that there can't be - buy usually a redownload clears it up.
When you do the copy to copy option the disc will be finalized whether doing a data or music cd. It's the way I do mine and so far so good:)
I hope this helps! (and you're welcome too!)
