Well, that's your opinion, FF is not better than dragon quest, they are different, but its true that FF might appeal more to non-japanese players since its more commercial and easy overall.
Remember that Enix's dragon quest IS the original j-rpg, FF was just a mere copy...Dragon Quest is the main reference of all Rpgs, is the street fighter II of Rpgs.

Sure it is, but if we don't count the biggest rpg market out there, Japan, were Dragon Quest is way more popular than FF.

Please specify next time, because saying FF is more popular than dragon quest includes the whole world I think...
Ops, and DQ being more popular than FF in Japan is vox populi, I mean, sells more than FF and gets more hype than FF.

of course in Europe or the US FF is more popular, I just only pointing out than in japan DQ is more popular...

By logic:
-Dragon Quest sells more than FF in japan
-Each Dragon Quest anunced is the first game in famitsu's most awaited game chart.
In japan a dragon quest game can only be released in Sunday by law, because if a Dragon quest ins released any other day people will go buying the game instead going to school, and I'm not joking...

haha.. intresting, but i do think that FF is WAAAY better than Dragon Quest, FF VII is a godly game, and Dragon Quest VIII( i think it was) Not at all good IMO. That was back in the PSX days though... havent played a newer one.
EDIT: WAIT! that was Dragon Warrior Not Dragon Quest, Same Devellopper or just similar names?

Dragon quest VII and FF VII were veeeery different games, I prefer FFVII though...
Anyway, I'm not saying that DQ is better than FF, I only said that in Japan Dragon quest game is more popular, it was the first rpg there after all... the fact that you prefer FF over DQ does not mean it's a better game...neither worse.
And I don't know if DQ had a movie, but it had a TV show...
and FF too :S
But don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that one is better than the other it depends in the taste of the player...
And face123 if you want to know how I know DQ is more popular than FF in japan without actually living there, I'll show you the sales of DQ VII and FFIX in japan, both got a release in 2000:
Dragon Quest VII -- 3,784,682
Final Fantasy IX -- 2,659,222

That is only for one ff game and one DQ game. Now compare the sales to the entire ff series and compare the entire DQ series then show me the sales. FF would win most likely....

Yes I know, but there are more FF games than DQ, but normally the DQ sells more (in japan only), Dragon Quest VIII sold more in japan than FF X, XI and XII.
