is there a way i can do it without opening my psp some more? and whats a face plate

When my r buton became unresponsive I just followed the guide on afterdawn.com that tells you how to open the psp and I took off the r button and I used some alcohol (like they use to clean most mechanical devices) to clean underneath. Once I put the button back on it worked fine. You might have a probably with a button as well.
