Thank you for your post... That makes a lot of sense. However unlucky for me, I never hooked up the upgrade wires. :(
also, where would I go about getting a firmware upgrade?

yeah, my wii is still in pieces (though i am playing it :P) because i havnt gotten an upgrade switch yet :P. The update should be available on their website at http://www.teamcyclops.com/

I'm eagerly awaiting the update too, they say on the news part of teamcyclops.com that the alpha version is out now, and the alpha testers are authorized to start distributing their copy if team cyclops doesn't put out the full version within a week.. one way or another we will have it next week :)
now I just need to take a visit to Radioshack and pick up a blasted switch, I think I'll be feeding the wires through the Wii's side filter

I have thought about running wires through the Gamecube memory slot. I would never use the 2nd one (if i ever use the first one)

my soldering skills are stuck in the 80's. I can solder 80's electronics no problem. I think I will live with the slow reading :)
Now if anyone needs a parallel port soldered into their old Commodore 1541/71 disk drive... I'm your guy.
Never before has 170kb of data been copied in under 5 minutes (and without swapping disks) :D

Hey I was looking for some decent media to burn wii games to and I saw that bestbuy had Sony(dvd +/-) 100 pack for $24.99. Does anyone know if this would be a good choice? I've never used Sony before but just assumed it would be pretty good. Thanks

anyway like ps2 games same applies to the wii. use taiyo yudens, i use tyg02 for both. no problems. granted i only have one wii game twilight princess but i have a crapload of gcn games that till now i couldn't backup.

And for the record there's a big difference between the plain-jane Vebatims which are often CMC or other low grade media and the DataLifePlus which are high quality Mitsubishi Chemicals MCC media .

Well, I would suppose that 10 diff media doing the exact same thing would suggest to you that the media isn't the problem. Whether it be verbatim, sony, hp, rocoh, memorex, or magnavox. Every single one does the same thing.
as far as the e-mail, take it off then. Geez.. You are the moderator. I only needed help with one thing. So you can ban me too. I got my answer.

won't work if ya have a dynamic ip (ie changes everytime you restart pc)
on topic: use tyg02. cheapest and best media for the job
