shankly, you might want to read the forum rules as that is piracy which is not condoned on this site.

My latest issue with AnyDVD is with the movie 'Casino Royale'. It just couldn't crack it. Very frustrating. At this point I'm ready to rename it: 'SomeDVDs'
Thank goodness for RipIt4Me. Without it I wouldn't be able to back up some of the newer movies.

djlen, I ripped "Casino Royale" with the AnyDVD ripper to my normal folder, then used FixVTS, then DVDShrink and Nero to burn. That's the only way I could get it to copy. Just some more info on FixVTS. This may work with other movies but I haven't had to do it, yet.

Here's the thing. When you spend $40 for an application that calls itself 'AnyDVD' you assume that it will perform as expected. By that I mean it will remove all copy protection as it does for the older ones.
When we have to use other applications to obtain the desired results I have to ask myself why I spent the money to start with.
So far RipIt4Me has done the job on all of them, but again, I don't think it should be necessary to use it.
And this seems to be becoming more frequent over time with AnyDVD.
Just my opinion.

djlen, I hear AnyDVD's next update will be a good one. It will be back to being "AnyDVD" again or close to it. There are some beta versions out but I'm waiting for the actual update. What RI4M has going for it is, it's free and it's good. That's where I got the idea to use FixVTS in conjunction with AnyDVD Ripper. Later, George.

With AnyDVD's next update which I would think will be official in a matter of days they seem to be going back to their roots :)
With RipIt4Me, FixVTS no longer be updated it's about AnyDVD did that.

i had no problem with this title using CloneDVD 2 + AnyDVD doing the movie only. is your firmware updated on your drive? don't always assume its the program it can be a number of things causing the problem like confliting software bad/scratched dvds your drives PC etc.

I don't think djlen has CloneDVD.
I too have never had one that combo can't handle - doing full backup (well unchecking unwanted special features & audios).
People who bought AnyDVD only I think mainly rely on Shrink or even Recode to back up dvd's. These new Sony's threw Shrink for a loop even w/ AnyDVD. But AnyDVD is taking care of that now.

binkie7 , with the new AnyDVD update CloneDVD 2 shouldn't be necessary to backup the hard to do movies anymore. that will be alot of help for people

Yeah - they rewrote the whole ripper option from scratch and rampled up the core of AnuDVD to finally be compatible w/ Shrink & Recode. Though with Recode you could still do movie only on these Sony's.
You definitely right - this update will really go a long way.
Now I wonder when Sony will try something new ;)

The way I read it the ripper is a stripped down version of CloneDVD 2 set to DVD9 output using AnyDVD as the decryption tool. That goes back to when Slysoft suggested using CloneDVD 2 for use with AnyDVD for ripping purposes. That will make it a lot easier on users with only the AnyDVD, but won't matter much for those already owning CloneDVD 2, if they read the memo.

i sure would like to see slysoft incorporate and deep analysis setting within CloneDVD 2 . then it would be almost a perfect program

Had no problems doing The Holdiay with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD (6.1.3.6) running in background. Same for Casino Royal - main movie only - Region 4

Yes, that's exactly why I didn't buy CloneDVD. I use combinations of Shrink and Decryptor with it and when the going gets tough, RipIt4Me can rip just about anything.
On the older movies, you put the movie in the Rom and AnyDVD decodes them and then when you open Shrink it's no problem ripping because they are no longer copy-guarded. So I see no reason to spend more money for Clone when it shouldn't be necessary. Unfortunately, this has not been the case with many of the newer ones. The Holiday and Casino Royale for example, simply would not rip for me using AnyDVD. "Cars" was another flick that wouldn't rip for me without disabling AnyDVD and using RipIt4Me.
Eventually, some of these older applications that are no longer being updated will become obsolete and if AnyDVD doesn't keep up with the technology we'll all be up the creek.:)
I hope this new version you all are talking about will do the job.

@ djlen
As indicated in my previous post, I have no problem using the DVD Shrink / AnyDVD combination - all new movies including Cars, Happy Feet, Holiday etc.
I do not burn on the fly but copy to hard disk first. AnyDVD is set to - Remove annoying adverts and trailers and Jump directly to main movie. I use Nero Express to burn.
I am in Region 4, so not sure if there are regional differences but to date, I have never had a movie I could not replicate with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD.

djlen ,Doing the main title ONLY is the trick in doing the hard to DVDs via Sony

AnyDVD didn't completely stop working with Shrink. It was certain movies and circumstances where the 2 programs showed interference problems. Slysoft has been aware of the problems for some time. They are addressed in the new update and DVD Shrink is specifically mentioned on the changelog.
======================================
6.1.4.2 2007 05 03
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper rewritten from scratch. It is no
longer based on FixVTS code but on the powerful copy engine of
CloneDVD2, licensed from Elaborate Bytes AG. If you want more
control (stream selection, main movie only selection, ...) we
recommend elby CloneDVD2 available at http://www.slysoft.com
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper can now handle heavily protected discs
- New (DVD): AnyDVD ripper output is now fully compatible with
DVD Shrink and Nero Recode
- New (DVD): Protection removal of AnyDVD core is more compatible
with DVD Shrink and Nero Recode. Some heavily protected discs
like "Perfume" (R2, German) can now directly be opened with Shrink
without prior ripping to harddisk.
- New (DVD): Added support for new copy protections to the option to
remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
- New (Blu-ray): Improved detection / removal of region code
Multi region (e.g. Region A+C) discs are now handled correctly
in "automatic" region removal mode
- Change: Workaround for registration problem on Windows Vista
- Change: Removed AnyDVD ripper shortcut
- Fix: Title 10 of "Perfume", R2, German was damaged
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages
