No, V 1.07 was the firmware I had already downloaded. Appears to work on daughters 2 gb micro sd but not the 1 gb, even though lots of room left for sav files. Thought it strange the card worked in my M3 (with m3 firmware) but not the DSTT with V1.07 firmware. This has not just happened on one 1gb micro sd but FOUR!! Luckily I had a few spare micro sd cards (Kingston) and got working on them, but it did my head in and what if someone doesnt have spare cards. Wonder if theres a fault with V1.07 firmware, could that be the reason? Has this freezing happended with anyone else??

The story goes:

I purchased 2 R4s from ds-memory.net , when they arrived the were infact DSTTs ...I received a letter with them saying the R4 was now called DSTT ...not quite true....they are infact 2 different products completely. Which are Really good I might add ....Now I paid £54 for 2 R4s and the DSTT can be purchased for £12.50 inc delivery
here..

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10289

So personally I feel cheated as the price difference is around 50% and
ds-memory.net didnt send a part refund or anything...I have emailed them for a refund or the can have them back as its not the product I ordered...

In short the DSTTs are as good even better Id say , but they retail at a lower price so if you do get the DSTT instead of the R4 ask for a discount or something ... The top and bottom of it is the R4 has sold out everywhere and the DSTT has just come out on the market therefore there is plenty stock...

regards m-tek

BTW if anyone needs any help setting them up visit my website

http://supex0.com/xforums/index.php?showforum=29

Theres DSTT firmware, skins and cheat files...
I see the link for the DSTT is prices in $....are you from the u.k?,and is that why you quoted in £?

I am thinking of ordering one of those at that price
Thats right Im in the U.K !!

it sometimes doesnt load on me too. i just keep on reformatting and reformattting. try reformatting it on FAT32. not FAT. it will lessen your hangs...and i found out that if you will add a game, copy the .SAV files, (your save files) just reformat the microSD then put all your files back WITH YOUR NEW GAME and that will also lessen your hangs...and also dont use cheats....it causes FRAGMENTATION thats why the game doesnt load...everytime you load a cheat..it makes a new file with the .ARP extension and fragments you microSD..if it still occurs, try turing off the DMA mode (the little cd icon) or try turning it on if its turned off

beware R4 users. some games for the DS doesnt work on the R4 like Cooking Mama 2, SimCity DS etc. so its better to get an DSTT rather than the R4 because its cheaper, all games work and has a better interface (for me)

carlos 18, great video thanks for the info. Any idea why the micro sd loaded in my M3 simply (without formatting again) when just changed the system files, but wouldnt work in the dstt again when changed system back to dstt? I will try formatting the four micro sd's that wouldnt load on dstt to fat 32 as you suggest and give em another go. Are you saying everytime I want to add a new game Im better formatting and reloading - seems a lot of hassle if so.

yeah...even to me it USED to be a hassle but now i doesnt stuck up cuz i dont connect it to the computer anymore...it stays on the ds so it doesnt get stuck up....

i think that the M3 and R4 uses a better technology on handling the microSD than the DSTT\TTDS. maybe it will get fixed on the next firmware revision....just keep on looking at the DSTT's site: www.ndstt.com

carlos18, cheers for your reply. I will keep looking for update to DSTT firmware and hope it comes soon. The freezing has been the only problem but I did find it a big one!! Happy New Year to you.

try reformatting again then load the system files, load JUST ONE game and try if it will open...and what Operating System are you on?
if XP try to scan if you have viruses on your computer
oh...i almost forgot....try downloading the System Files again
if problem still occurs just reply....

There seem to be lots of problems with the DSTT card. I got it to work first time without any problem.

The card does not allow you to exit a game to the main menu. You have to carry out a "soft reset" each time. The only other option is to switch the DS off.

When you switch the DS off, unpredictably, the system will hang when you try to switch it back on. I get the initial DS health warning screen in very faint writing and it does not respond to "touch screen to continue".

This is a major hassle. The DS itself will work if I remove the DSTT card and inserting a DS game card. It will also work if I leave slot 1 empty.

The only way to revive the DSTT card I have found is to take the micro SD card out and reformat it in my PC. This is frustrating when all you wanted to do was to switch games.

Many users are reporting this problem and no one seems to have provided a satisfactory answer. I viewed carlos18's video on youtube but this is not the same problem.

Help anyone?

My daughters DSTT with 2gb micro sd is working great. However Ive had a problem with screen freezing and games not loading on my DSTT with 1gb micro sd - even though there is over 100 mb space left for the sav files. Ive tried formatting and reloading a few times but have the same problem. Strange thing is when I deleted the DSTT system files and loaded with M3 simply files the games worked fine on my M3 simply. So I experimented and copied the DSTT files from my daughters (that works)and deleted the M3 files and tried again in the DSTT but it freezes again - i.e. the same 1gb micro sd card works on the M3 not on the DSTT.
Anyone any ideas? This has happened with more than one card.

How did u go abt letting ur ttds run m3 files? wads files do i nid in the card, i tried adding m3 files but it couldn't load any games, i wanna change my ttds to use m3 simply to prevent the game loading prob thx...

louispaul, sorry if i confused you. I have both DSTT and M3Simply cartridges and each use different system files. You cannot use m3 files on the dstt. All I meant was the 1 gb micro sd card was not at fault because it worked in my m3 simply (with m3 system files) but when I changed the system files to DSTT and put the same micro sd card in the DSTT cartridge, it did not work.

my second DSTT developed a rattle after three days of use and will not work at all,I have opened the case and found a minute chip has become detached from the circuit board. DSTT is a cheap and nasty copy of R4. Its too flimsy. The R4 is like a solid block compared to DSTT. Do not reccomend it. Get R4 original and best.

If anyone has a contact number for ds-memory.net I would be grateful. They appear to be serially ignoring my e-mails requesting information. Thankfully they have taken no money yet, but I think it's time to cancel the order and go elsewhere.

cheers.

How long you been waiting mate? I was under the imperssion I was getting a R4 but he said I will be getting a DSTT(which is probably better anyway so am not annoyed at that). But ever since am not sure if they debited my card or what, nothing on my statement but I want to cancel the order and not find them debiting my card when I buy another one.
Anyway I need a decent UK supplier or at least Europe.

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know I have just rec'd my R4 from memorycards4U and it formatted, loaded and worked first time. None of the hassle I had with the DSTT. Built to last. Higly reccomend you get R4 stay away from cheap imitations.

Been waiting a week so far. More of a concern is that they can't be arsed to reply to e-mails asking basic customer questions.

As I have mentioned earlier the DSTT is a cheap cousin of R4 although they charge you the same price. I actually exchanged mine for another one which worked ok. It seems hit and miss as to if you get a fully functioning DSTT. The build quality of R4 is far superior. Does anybody know how to soft reset the R4 so that you do not have to keep turning it off to get back to the main menu?

regards
