I'm pretty sure I got F3 bios, even though I do not see that on their website. How do I upgrade?

extract it to a folder on your hd & read the readme file. post here what all the files put into that folder to see if missing the programming file as sometimes downloaded seperately but from same site. programming file should have an .exe extension.

Ok so In order to update the BIOS I need to make boot disks and I got that all figured out. Does it make sense to go from the oldest to the newest? or should I update some versions in between. I got version F3 and Need to get up to F11F so that's quite a jump.

My 7500GT has totally crapped out so now with the 3870s (ty sammoris for opening up my eyes)
I see this one but notice that it has GDDR3 ram (wth), does it make sense to get it?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125086
or would a GDDR4 version be that much better?

I've also gone ahead and upgraded my PSU to a 600W coolermaster I got an amazing deal on.

blawho: Good call on the PSU, Coolermaster don't make the best PSUs around, but they're certainly better than most of the "oh I found this real cheap" disasters around.
As for the 3870, I had no idea a GDDR3 version existed, but I'd certainly recommend the GDDR4 version, it made a huge difference for the 2900XT, so I expect the same is probably true of the 3870.
The DDR3 versions come with weaker coolers as well, so they may get pretty hot if used a lot, I'd say stick with the proper version.

My computer has been has been having some issues running games. My game would freeze random textures would disappear and random ones would appear. eventually I would have to reboot and occasionally on my boot screen where it would show my boot screen with that mobo and BIOS with all the correct lettering but with whitish pixilated lines going down my screen. once it got to the windows loading screen I would see a bluish tint with random blue pixels and same kind of lines as before except blue. Now it won't even boot just keeps going in circles and restarting itself.

I was wondering if this a common GFX card error or if it could deffinetly be something else. OH and I have 7600GT not 7500.

That means your graphics card's either faulty or overheating. I'm going to guess the former but check it's fan is running before you replace it.

I'm going to replace it either way, but I cleaned the inside of the case and made sure the fan is running. I notice a clicking noise which I'm pretty sure is coming from the card right before the system reboots.

If you want added cooling (and more overclocking headroom), get the second, but if you have a PCI slot that you want to use right under the PCI-e slot, then get the first.

Two of those links are the same...
I'd prefer a card to have a dual slot cooler really, but Sapphire make good GPUs, so a product of theirs will never be bad.

I would still go with Sappire, better brand overall.

It seems that MSI charges way cheaper prices for all of their cards. I mean, when I was looking for a new card to go with my setup, I was considering an 8800GTX or a Ultra, and there was at least a $50 difference between MSI's cards and the other EVGA, BFG, etc.

I just thought they were sacrificing quality to get those lower prices, but I guess I was wrong as I dont have any real proof of people with bad experiences with them.

MSI make decent motherboards etc. so i've no reason to believe their GPUs are bad. Unlike EVGA and BFG though, they don't mess with the cards, upgrade the coolers or provide a big software bundle, so the cards are always going to be quite cheap.

GAH, more issues.
I popped out my old card, installed the new one (HD3870 MSI) and I could not configure drivers off the CD and the fan on the card is SOO LOUD, Im pretty sure it came at 100% and it's driving my crazy. I tried downloading drivers off the website, but that didn't help. After the website drivers I had an 'MOM.Implementation error and .NET error for CCC. I installed .NET for CCC and that did nothing for the drivers. so removed "drivers" deleted .NET, reboted, cleaned registry and installed just the driver and no CCC off ATI website. I can run games, but windwos does not recognize the card and asks me to install everytime I boot up.

Anyone know what's up?

Hmm, that's a bit suck about the fan. Try running Atitool to a) see if it finds the card, and b) adjust the fan speed. As far as the drivers go, not sure. perhaps try a different version?

ok so I've figured out that the only thing not working is CCC, and I am tired of trying to make it work.
I've downloaded rvatuner and used that to turn the fan speed down to 70% and that makes a HUGE difference in noise.
All the drivers are loaded and games are running fine, but windos device manager still doesn't recognize the 3870..... hmm? doesn't really matter I suppose.

Did you do a complete uninstall/reinstall of the latest (catalyst 8.1) drivers for the 3870? Choose "ati software uninstall utility) in the "add or remove programs" menu in control panel, and unstall everything Ati related (which that program will do). Then reboot, and install the 8.1 drivers.
