That is because the instructions are a little different for this one.
Instead of pressing triangle, which I like better on the slim, you need to remove Tool A do to a TOC refresh with an Original PS2 game or use the Swap Magic DVD, once it says the TOC refresh size on the bottom of the screen, you can then press "x"
Then it will come to a screen telling you to swap
You can read the instructions.txt inside the folder, but here it is also.
Swap Magic Users (Copied DVD game boot):
1. Extract the archive
2. Burn the *.bin and *.cue on a CD-R
3. Load up Swap Magic CD version.
4. Put it in your PS2 and it will load CDloader.
5. Press X, then choose your options. (ARMAX US or ARMAX EU)
6. To load cheats, go to expert mode, and activate the desired cheats.
7. Press start.
8. Press X to execute the cheats. DO NOT DO ANY DISC SWAPPING YET.
9. By now the ACTION REPLAY DISC should load into the CDloader screen.
10.Refresh the TOC by insterting a high TOC retail DVD game (or Swap Magic DVD) using the normal instert the game method (i.e pressing the eject button).
11.Give it a while then, press X
12.When the screen asks you to swap disc. Now swap discs using the Slide Card or Slim tool method.
13. Press X.
14. Now enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Swap Magic users wanting to use cheats on a copied CD-R game, use the same method explained above, but now only just use a retail CD game.

I have this swap magic compatible armax saved on my computer somewhere but I edited it and made two versions, 1 is full of NTSC games updated game codes and the other disc is the same but with PAL games with updated codes.
If you need it PM me because you're not allowed to post links here (I think)

I have Codebreaker 10.1 dvd that you could try.
You would load your Swap Magic
Swap for Codebreaker disc
Choose cheats, STart game
Then load your Swap Magic DVD
Swap for backup and play
Now I have not tried it personally, so not sure if thats the exact method.
I use CB 10.elf anymore with fmcb 1.8 or I use my Retail Codebreaker

no problem
Free McBoot is a method of running homebrew applications directly off a Memory Card as a stand alone loader. No boot discs or modchips are required once installed

Ok good luck

Yes thank you, I was going to suggest to install fmcb 1.8
Yes you can still use your swap magic to load your discs.
And any new discs you do, just patch them first with ESR disc patcher.
The Codebreaker can be found here in post #3. You can rename it too what you want. In that particular thread it is being used with the memor32, so is named BOOT.ELF and is 3.62mb, but you can't use that name as uLaunch.elf uses that name. So just rename to something like CB10.ELF
The CB_launch.elf file can be found here scroll right down to the bottom for the file and explanation
http://psx-scene.com/forums/ps2-homebrew...o-load-hdl.html
If your PS2 is under V14, you can launch it from the USB drive.
You need to place it in the BOOT folder on the mc. You can use uLaunch to do this.
Copy it from usb to mc.

Am I suppose to take the CB10 out of the Boot foulder from post 3
and copy it to the Code Beaker Launch foulder? Should I make a codebreaker foulder on my usb stick or put it in the install foulder?

Ok first so your not double posting, when you are the last poster and want to add more info here, just look at the "text icon with pencil" at the top right of your post.
That is the edit button.
Ok so you take the Codebreaker.elf out of post #3. It is called BOOT.ELF and is 3.6mb . It is patched already.
Rename it to CB10.ELF, now place that on your USB stick. Doesn't have to be inside any folder.
You will then launch it using uLe first, by browsing to your USB stick.
You then take the CB_launch.elf and place it inside the BOOT folder on the memory card.
Now when you launch CB10.ELF go to options, make sure to turn off Automatic disk tray.
Then your settings will be saved.
Now select your cheats, then press START.
Takes you back to main menu and now START game.
It should then take you back to Sony Browser
Now the easiest way to tell you to Play Silent Hill 2, would be to use imgburn to make an ISO image again. Patch it with the ESR disc patcher.
Then burn it using imgburn.
Now you can use the ESR to play the backup with cheats.
Now if you wanted to use your Swap Magic disc instead, you would have to follow this method.
Download the SM 3.8 elf files.
Use the "pkd_SM_3.8DVD.ELF" and just rename to SM_3.8.ELF
Then copy it too your APPS folder on memory card or BOOT folder.
Then go to Browser in PS2 and start the fmcb configurator
Go to "OSD settings"
It should look like this
Now go to Configure Item.
The first 4 are already there so go to "5"
Now browse for the SM 3.8.ELF file you transferred to memory card.
Then name it at the top
Now you will return the this screen below and select "save to mc0"
Ok so now to be able to use the cheats using Swapmagic and CB10
1. Put an Original High TOC game in the PS2
2. Start the PS2 up holding R1
3. That is uLe
4. Browse to your USB drive and launch CB10
5. Select the cheats and START game
6. Should take you now to Sony Browser
7. Select SM3.8
8. Once that loads swap for the backup.
9. Choose "Normal, Then select "NTSC"
10. Press "X" to start game.
I don't want to overload you here with info, but if you read through the fmcb 1.8 tutorial some more about configuring fmcb near the bottom.
You can use the "Configure E1 launch keys" to launch your CB10 from the usb drive by holding down a button when starting the PS2.
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/FMCBv1.8.html
It is nice to have a large memory stick. I use a Datel 64mb Memory Plus and just have all my files on the memory card and showing in the PS2 Browser.

Well ok I did everything you said to do but for some reason nothing was added to the sony browser showing the codebreaker, ESR DVD, swapmagic. And when I go to the browser and search the usb stick to load codebreaker its asking me to save settings and cheats are loading it freezes on this screen. Could something have happened and it didn't install right?

Ok when you installed fmcb 1.8, did you have all the files in place like this.
Or use the noobie package and the DVDELF.bin file.
Just so you know here is the configuration for button presses during boot up.
These files can also be launched during boot-up with the button presses of the default CNF:
BOOT.ELF ( R1)
ESR.ELF ( R2)
HDLOADER.ELF ( L1)
SMS.ELF ( L2)
FMCB Configurator ( START)
So if you really didn't need HDLOADER.ELF or SMS.ELF you could change them in the FMCB configurator and browse to a different elf file and rename.
Remember its in the OSD settings to change them to appear in Sony browser, not the "Configure E1 launch keys"
When you launch CB10 from the usb, you may have to pull your USB drive once its starts to load.
CB10 doensn't like USB drives on V14 and up PS2 or perhaps other ones.

Doubled checked everything, its looks ok, but Im having trouble loading codebreaker and swapmagic. In the meantime I'll be reading some ofthe guides you posted.
OKay I think I got it now. I reformatted the memory card and usb drive.
Reinstalled. I got the codebreaker up and then loaded with swapmagic, swapped with backup. That made me very very happy to see that.
Is it okay to use the update button in codebreaker to update cheat codes? Or will it mess something up? The game didn't freeze or anything but I couldn't tell if the cheats were on in the inventory.
I couldn't have done all this without you for sure. Im finally getting the hang of it. Just in case I wrote all your steps down so, I wouldn't forget.

Ok thats good.
To load Swap Magic, if you don't have a button press for it, just put an Original PS2 disc in the PS2.
Hold R1 as it loads, then use uLe to launch SM 3.8
Then it should allow you boot a backup.
As for Codebreaker, what Version PS2 do you have again?
I can't remember if you don't have a lot of space on your MC if its too pull your USB and mc once it starts to load.
I load mine from MC as my PS2 doesn't like the USB drive with Codebreaker on it.
It will look like the screen changes for a second while it loads, then it takes a bit for it to come up on screen.
Anyway I find the codes for Silent Hill 2 on Codebreaker don't work for my NTSC version.
They do work for Silent Hill 3, 4 and Origins though.
I read something on codemasters project about it, so going to look again.

Its a V12 Slim. It loaded fine with the usb stick in. The memory card is only a 8mb so some of the files I stored on the usb. I have another one the way that I bought online (64mb).
I wasn't sure what version of silent hill I actualy have. Its Director's cut. It showed two versions in codebreaker. I figured it couldn't hurt to try both to see which one it is.
You,re right codebreaker didn't work for NTSC version. Check on all new codes but nothing works. I assume the problem lies with the game. I'm going to try loading some other games with cheats on to make sure its just that one game. Hopefully I'm not just loading it wrong.

Im starting to think the dang thing is haunted, lol Even bought a new 64mb memory card, and loaded everything from it instead of the usb stick still didn't help. Im at a loss
