Hey I checked out your video. I actually tested the loader too in my PS2 to see what it was like.
I am not really sure what the issue could be as I have never had that happen.
Now I am sure you did this, but will ask anyway.
When the loader starts, did you press "O" for NTSC

Lulz. Yeah, I clicked O for NTSC. (Not that it mattered; even when I clicked on PAL, it popped up fine. Dunno why, though... I half-expected it to be all weird with half the screen missing or something.)
Anyway, I'm gonna try a different approach now. Maybe by loading uLaunch and trying stuff from there, I can get things to work a bit more easily.
I dunno, wish me luck.

Huh... okay... so I wiped my PS3, and then things finally started working out alright.
Except the games I'd been trying for fucking EVER to play apparently just aren't playable using USBAdvance.
That's... well, that's a bummer, to say the least. I can play ZOE2 off the USB, but that's kinda just an "eh" thing. I can already just stick it in and play it that way.
Oh well.
Guess that just means I'm gonna have to live with the fact that I either saw my PS3's top cover in half or buy another PS2 or go without gaming all my imports. Fun stuff.

Christ hey.. Well glad you got the USB part working, sux you can't play what games you want, but thats USBAdvance for yeah I guess.
That was why I actually got the Network adaptor for my PS2 and installed the IDE hdd , so I could have most of the games I like on there.
But funny thing is there are some games that don't work on it, but do on the USB drive.

Really? Well, I s'pose that's ONE good thing about it...
That said, how's the compatibility of HDLoader and all those other HD loading programs?

With hdloader 8c or hdloader 3.8c the compatibility is about 95%

You know if there's any chance of USBAdvance ever getting to that point? Or has it more or less reached its peak?

I don't think it will ever get any better than what it is myself.
I have had my USBextreme disk for a few years now, and there has been no upgrades.
And USBAdvance is just the cracked version, although the USB loader for PS3 may be a bit better.
I don't have a USB drive at the moment to test it out with to see if its any better.

Hm... that's a shame. Though I suppose it isn't IMPOSSIBLE for Ifcaro or the folks over at Demonhades to recode USBAdvance to up its compatibility...
Hell, maybe I should try it myself, just to learn some programming. At worst, I learn something about programming and coding and blah blah blah those technical terms; at best, I get to play my imports again. (All... what... $100, $200, maybe $300 of them? Sheesh, when I think about it like that...)

Uh... yeah, I already know that.
Actually, you don't need to copy the BADATA-SYSTEM folder and junk to your virtual memory card anymore, since USB Loader ver. 0.2b has (I'm guessing) the USB drivers already integrated into it.
You can simply stick the .ELF file on your flash drive, rename it to "SMBOOT#.ELF" (replacing the # with a number), and you can boot directly from the SM screen.
And yeah, I already know about the compatibility. Which is why I was saying I could try messing around with it. Up the compatibility.
What exactly were you trying to add to the conversation?

Anyway, one final question, this one about HDLoader, of all things:
There's USBAdvance, which is the "free" version of USBExtreme.
Does HDLoader have an equivalent? Not knowing exactly where to begin, I just searched "hdloader elf" and there doesn't seem to be anything... mostly just .bin/.cue files that I'm guessing you burn to a CD and use that to freak out the PS2 or something (using a memory card exploit or some such thing). Anyway, I was just curious if there was such a thing, because it would be very interesting if I could do the following:
1.) Boot up Swap Magic.
2.) Boot up uLaunch/Launch.elf.
3.) Navigate to my USB drive, take my games and stick 'em on the PS3 hard drive (I'm planning on creating a "virtual PS2 partition" on the drive using a download Sony created allowing you to set up a part of your drive for FFXI to access, and hopefully uLaunch'll recognize it).
4.) Boot up HDLoader.
5.) See my backups in my "virtual PS2 HDD."
...far shot, but eh, can't hurt to try at this point.
So yeah, any .elfs of HDLoader?

Yeah, I seriously doubt it'll work, too, especially since a) it's a SATA drive, b) it's a virtual drive, c) it's a PS2 elf being run on a PS3, and d) more likely than not, someone else has already tried the same thing.
Anyway. Be back in a day or two or three with some results... and maybe some more questions.
Thanks again.

Well, that takes care of that. First of all, downloading the "PS2 System Settings" doesn't do anything to help me create a PS2 partition, because I need a PS2 game that requires installation, and unfortunately, I don't.
(Although Street Fighter Alpha Anthology looks very appealing right about now. Nostalgia calls...)
Anyway. I'll get that, see what happens, blah blah blah, but I won't bore you unless I have results. 'Til then, thanks and have a pleasant tomorrow.
