ok i did it i just converted it using the Xvid one and then converted it to DivX on another program yay:P

now i must test if i can get it all done on my own now:( how do you change the colour of the outline on the subtitles?

ok i have all the video stuff down thats all sorted i still havn't been able to change the subtitle border colour. and i keep getting the same problem when i try to put subtitles in they dont't show up only the one you did for me shows up

It's now entering an area I'm not familiar with.
I haven't worked with enough MKV files to venture why the subs are not ripping properly.

I suggest going to the Videohelp forum and posting the problem there..much more informed than myself.

they rip correctly because when i watch them in subtitle workshop its all fine but when i save as .ssa it just wont work on VirtualDub

can you please check the subtitles to see if i did something wrong? i ripped them from the MKV and it gives me a .srt and a .ass i converted both into .ssa

_track1 .ass times look ok
_track1 .ssa times look ok

_track2 .ssa lines one through six have zero start/end times
_track2 .srt lines one through six have zero start/end times

yeah i noticed that the .ass is fine on all the ones ive extracted but even after converting it to .ssa it stil doesnt show

i finally got it to work at last. i took the .ass files and changed them to .srt then i used srt2ssa converter and then used those ssa files they all worked. i now have yellow subtitles lol any clue how to change the colour?

There's a filter for VirtualDub, called 'TextSub' that lets you change the style of .ssa files.
The filter is part of 'VobSub'
Scroll down the link to see how to install it (you only care about the VobSub part).
