Ya i did some research .. your mobo has some obscure (read: crappy), video controller and is prolly configured to use 64MB of system memory as video ram

Dont by the GFX5200 at any cost, hell buy the GF4MX if you have to. Ive said this to you twice already: the GFX5200 is crap.

The question about cheap was also answered. Its because of the 64bit memory structure.

No.... thats why its cheap.... its a good card, dont get me wrong....just dont expect to run UT2004 @1280x1024 with settings ramped to max and expect 30+fps.

Same goes for the FX5200 -- its a solid card for its price bracket but its performance is seriously lacking. It makes for an excellent business card or for users who play games from time to time and never play the ultra high req. games much.

If I were you I save my money and see if you can get the non-SE version, as all SE cards are the underclocked version of said card (usually GPU that could not reach the minimum specs of said design).
As far as overclocking it, well you might be able to, but spend the extra cash and get a better card (that usually comes with more memory).Better to wait a little bit longer and get a better card(and like that you don't have to update your card as soon.

You havnt really been clear from the begining as to what you are using your vid. card for primarily.
- If you want gaming performance get a non-SE or a non-MX or a non-GFX5200 version
- If you want performance at at any cost get anything that costs more than $400 USD
- If you want virtually no gaming performance get a business/budget card like the 9200SE, GF4MX, GFX5200 etc
- If you want some gaming performance id's still reccommend you get a non-SE, non-MX, non-GFX5200 card however if your budget doesnt allow for that then the 9200SE and 9600SE will be ok.

You should be ok to play COunterstrike and such... i just didnt want you to think you could, with the 9600se, run out and play, say, FarCry with high details at decent framerate or something :)

Off the point but don't SiS make the sis630 etc, i thought that was SiS to blame for that...

Matey the card is cheap because the card is cheap, lol. I don't think you should expect too much. An improvement yes, but not able to run all games at max settings. Oh, max payne, then yeah that'll be fine, good luck.

:) yeah improvement for sure. My ti4200 is showing it's age hardcore but i can't afford an improvement/upgrade, i'd get a 5900xt for $260 AUD if i were to buy a new vid card, but only cause i like my games. >:]

LoL i really should read the posts a little better, eh?

It sucks to be poor.

It sucks even more to be poor, hang out with a girl and have tuition bitching at you :P

Which TI42 are you running, the old/original one? or the newer AGP8X one? I've been told the new one can be OCd (with the proper cooling) by quite a bit.

1. Not all cards come with thermal monitors (in fact the only ones i am aware of that come with them are the nvidia gfx cards).
2. As Ive been saying over and over again, OCing is a trial and error thing. Nobody can tell you exacly how much you can squeeze out if it

When a video card goes unstable you will start to notice artifacts in your graphics.... if you really push it all in one jump then you wont have video when you boot.

LOL i have the 64 meg 4x version (original) and the 128mb 8x agp, but it's starting to play up, had it overclocked quite a bit for a while, and the ambient temp here in mt isa can get pretty ridiculous...

Hanging out with chicks can never be a bad thing can it?
And by artifacts that goes for little texture tears where walls join etc, you may not notice it at first so check hard, but once a game will start and there is tearing, just keep backing it off bit by bit till the artifacts are gone, like praetor said, completely trial and error.

Whilst on the topic of o/cing, did the celeron 300a ever receive an award for overclockability? Could get that sucker up to 550 easy, without any extra cooling.
