I've been reading a lot of threads about splitting a 9 to a 5, but all the guides didn't work for me so far. Here is what I have to deal with:
The Movie is called "A Year In Provence" and was originally released on 4 VHS tapes. Smart enough, they put the movie(s) onto 2 DVD-9's. The thing here is - there is nothing like extras, stuff you could simply get rid of. The movie on each DVD is 180 minutes, so 360 all together. I've ripped the crap out of these 2 DVD's, trying to put each movie back onto 1 DVD+R with no luck. Also, I've noticed that most guides mention that one needs to put the original vobs, ifos and bups into each folder (disk1, disk2) but they're already there?!?!?!
All I use is DVDDecrypter, IfoEdit0.95 and ReMPEG2.
Use Smartripper, go to tab "straem processing"
mark the movie and the audio, on the right side use "demux".
When this is finished you have 3 files, 1 movie file *.m2v and a audio file *.ac3
rename both files (give them the same name, and don't change the file exstention.
Now you have to use DvdMaestro import the file (atach a menu) and than compile the movie.
This wil create new vobs with less GB.
A detailed guide you can find at doom9.org
thanks for your reply. Maybe I didn't make myself very clear. I would like to split them into 4 DVD+R's, so no remuxing (I assume), just a nice clean split.
You didn't say whether you want to encode or leave the files alone, retaining the original quality. For keeping them in the original form, I use dvddecrypter to rip to my haddrive, the IfoEdit, I choose split to 2 dvd's, you can strip streams if you want and remove any unwanted vob's at this time also. I have it create new video_ts and ifo's. This should make each set of vob's start at vts_01. Then load the video_ts ifo in ifoedit and select first play pgc under vmgm_mat, scroll down to the pre commands and edit the line (right click on the line)to say (Jump_TT)Jump to title command and select the title. This will make the dvd start playing the movie without any menu coming up.
