I currently have a Plextor external PX-708UF, which has been giving me trouble and is about to be replaced. I've been looking at a couple of inexpensive internal units. They are a Sony 16X for $69.99, and a Pacific Digital 16X for $49.99. I would appreciate any comments pro or con on either one of these.

I normally like Sony products, but a friend of mine bought a Sony burner about a year ago, and he has had trouble with it. On the other hand I have always thought very highly of Plextor, but mine is toast after a year and a half.

BTW, I have a 1.3 Sony Vaio desktop. Thanks!!
