Until recently my copying software, Decrypter, DVD2one, Nero has been working perfectly, then for some strange reason it's all gone MAD! I recently Decrypted, Compressed and Burnt A DVD-R, then I was asked to do another copy of it for a friend, Unfortunately I had wiped it from my HD, so I put my copy into my laptop to copy the movie onto my HD (AGAIN)! When I put the disc into my drive the drive said that the disc was empty, even when I fired up Decrypter it said Incompatible Medium Present. My disc was copied on my laptop, it plays on my DVD player, but my laptop now reckons that the disc is blank! Will someone help me cos my brain is starting to FRAZZLE!!!!

I agree with what Rotary is saying, sounds like the media you made the first copy on wasn't of the best quality. Sometimes these will burn and play fine, but if you try to rip them from the copy they will not cooperate.

Good media is Verbatim DataLifePlus with the "Super AZO Dye" if you buy in stores. These seem to be the most consistent good quality media for retail store purchases. If you buy online I suggest going with Taiyo Yuden, find them at supermediastore.com, rima.com, meritline.com or newegg.com.

Hi, Cheers for the advice, I'm just a little confused as I have been using the same blank DVD's for about 6 months, now all of a sudden I can't copy a copy, isn't that a bit weird???

ity all depends what those blank dvds are. They could be utter rubbish or it could just be a config issue, or both. Download dvdinfopro (free) and run one of those discs thru it's media info check. Paste the details here and we'll see what we can see.

Could be a few other things also... we could start looking at burner fimware, Nero logs etc etc afterwards

It's pure madness: if I burn with Nero or Copy2Dvd the discs won't read when I put them back in my drive, but if I burn thru DVD Decrypter using Image recorder, they work just fine...............!??!?!?!?! Go figure that one!

OK, now this sounds like a software issue, maybe Nero ASPI or an outdated version. Post your Nero log (remember to not include serial number-the one that begins with 1A21 or something like that) and Creaky, myself, and the others will disect it for you.
