DVD burner will read some dvd and not others

Tryin to back up my dvd's but some dvd's it will read and some it wont. I have a Sony DRU-710a with the latest firmware. It wierd in box sets it will read one dvd no prob, But the next one it wont read at all. And then shows my dvd drive as a cd drive?? Any ideas?

In regard to ur computer not recognizing ur dvd drive u may have to uninstall it and let ur computer "re-recognize" it after restarting. I'm sure if that's errouneous someone here will correct me or eloborate. The help here is incredible...

Ur not understanding. THe computer see's the drive as a dvd burner no problem. Just with SOME certain Dvd's it wont read the DVD as in not showing it Videos ts file. I just plug'd in my old dvd rom at it reads the dvds but not my sony burner. Its really wierd.
