This is my first game back-up. I started it awhile ago and it seems a little strange to me. I used Decrypter to rip and I got two files, even though the HDD is NTFS. I thought I would only get an ISO flie, but I also got an MDS (I think) file. I burnt with the ISO and it didn't work. After about a week, I decided to go ahead and make a copy with the MDS file. Guess what, it worked. Is this normal? Should I continue to burn with the MDS file? Thanks in advance.

The MDS file is just a cue file for the ISO. Its just a text file that tells decrypter where the ISO file is located.

So, why wouldn't the ISO only disk work? Will I run into any problems using the MDS file? Sorry for so many questions... Thanks

No problem, everyones a newbie once. I dunno why the ISO didnt work. Put it this way, it should have done! Did you change the burn speed or change your blank dvd's on either of the burns? If you didnt, then it is just a random coaster that you got and it is a coincidence.

I didn't change anything, actually it's my first game back-up (been doing DVD's for a little bit though.) I used Maxell at 1x. Oh, well. I'll just keep trying. Thanks again.

Try burning at 4x next time and see if that is any better.

Will do. Thanks much. BTW Do you know anything about using Swap Magic 3.6 DVD boot disk to load a CD back-up? The company that sent it to me said that I could do this... then why have two disks? I just want to know if they're blowing smoke and what trouble I can run into without the CD disk (scrachted during shipping).

The dvd version doesnt boot CD games to my knowledge. Although I am not sure, as my PS2 has a modchip rather then swapmagic. Maybe someone else can help you there.
