I used nero burning rom with complete sucess.
I have a dvd reader and a dvd writer. Do a disc copy on the fly. Takes 5-8 min for a full burn. If you dont have 2 dvd drive, you can set it to image drive and still burn it later.
DVD 9 (GT4 and god of war) did not work. I used disc copy on the fly and a DVD+DL (cost me $12). The most expensive set of coaster on my coffee table.
you have to be careful when you use two drives to copy a game.if the original has scratches or smudge marks it could cause read errors that could mess up your copy.copying to the hard drive then burning that image is better.but if your games work then there is no problem.but the success rate will be lower than copying to the hd and burning.
Have not tried DVD9 yet myself, i know it said on the DVD Decrypter home page that the program would do it, not sure about Nero.
And i also assume that your burner can do dual layer?
right now the media is just too expensive, and the only packs bigger than 3 packs i can find in the store is Memorex, which are crap and i wouldn't waste my mony on their DVD5 discs let alone the DVD9
nero can burn dvd+r DL if you have the latest update. I have 2 burners. I used one as a reader and the other one as a burner. Iomagic 16x DL burner is very good burner. It takes all media brand. Best buy sells 5 packs dvd+r DL (Dynex made by Ritek D01) for $30. The quality is good, the only draw back is 2.4X. takes a life time to burn it.
Given the dvds prices nowaday, I take my chances on burn on the fly. Backing up on HD is a pain. Doubles the time of backing up.
burn on the fly takes 3-6 min on average depending how many gigs (8X media). If I have a burn error, I can always go to my safe and re do a back up. Usually if Nero tells you that burn is sucessfully complete, then the disc has no disc error. Back up all of my games, and they seems to work fine (knock on wood).
well your originals might have been in excellent condition.and when i said read errors i meant little read errors that cause the buffer between the original and the backup to narrow and sometimes catch up to each other and causes errors in the copy.it will still say successful copy at the end as long as the errors arent bad enough to completely stop the burn process.
