80 to 30 hard drive downgrade.

I recently formatted an 80gig IDE Maxtor HD in a USB 2.0 enclosure on a Mac running OS8 (possibly OS9) so it was recognised and I could transfer video files. I returned to my PC to find the drive appeared in device manager but not in 'My Computer'.

It was working ok in my PC before (laptop running Win XP Pro) so I partitioned and formatted the drive using Disk Manager but was only given the option having a total 31.4gigs. Can anyone explain why I've now got a mini-me hard drive and how I can remedy the situation?
