i used shrink successfully for a number of months without a problem. I have recently discovered the cyclic redundancy check error. I have followed many threads on fixing this problem. Disks are new and clean, optic drive is clean and new (Sony DRU700A) DMA modes are set correctly, DVD set as master. I have tried DVD43 free and anyDVD with no luck. I have the latest edition of DVD decrypter, still no luck. DVD Decrypter starts all right into second or third VOB read rate drops to 0.0x, retry rate as high as 300x, 8hrs/unknown until completion. I have decrypter settings as suggested in these forums. I have spent many sleepless nights on this and read all the forum threads on this particular error. I have just about given up!!!!! Please help.
DVD drive firmware up to date.
IDE channel firmware up to date.
Atapi functioning correctly.

First lets start with which dvd are you trying to backup? Even though you say the disks are new and clean there are cases of a bad press by the manufacturer. Have you added any new packet writing software recently such as Nero incd or roxio drag n drop as those are at times known to constantly access your dvd/ cd rom drive and interfere with other copying/ writing programs. Once you post the above info we can eliminate or determine what is causing the crc errors. Also there are several threads (use the search button at the top of the page)which you can read stating some of the newer dvds( if that is the case) put in dummy files and the 'dreaded' sony across encryption which make it harder for decrypter to rip to your hd.

yeah,
also try checking the movied database, try using the software i so endorse IsoBuster may help, DVD X Copy Platinum may help, works for me sometimes when shrink or Decrypter don't, i guess what im trying to say is that you should try all your avenues before giving up.
never give up...

I was having some problems ripping with Decrypter. It would stop at like 34% every time. So I cleaned it with a simple cleaner from Staples (disk cleaner with crank - you spray the disk and then turn the crank so that the sponges inside clena the disk). It went past 34% after that. Then I used everyone else's advice and after ripping it to my hard drive, I used Shrink and it worked nicely.
All it took was some cleaning
