Question: How do you increase your downloading speed on BitComet. I am directly connected to my cable modem and I have cable. What can I do to increase my download speed. My top speed is like 25 kb and I have seen people go up to 500 kb! How do I do it. I have a very good computer and fast internet connection. I think i need to change my configurations on Bitcomet or something? Can somebody please please help? I know there are ways but someone please reply (someone that downloads at a speed of 500 kb reply hehe) .thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Redwood04

How fast is your internet connection?

Limit your upload, mess with the numbers until you get that sweet spot giving you fast d/ls. (I limit my upload to 23)

And it all depends on the number of seeds and peer connected to the torrent.

Welcome to aD.

Give us time to reply :)

I am 576kbps ADSL, I use the BitLord client, I have limited my upload speed to 23, set the torrent to high priority, and on average, I get 50-59 kbps on a torrent. Your average 700MB movie, done in less than 3 hours.

A port is like a channel. A channel in your internet connection which is closed until you open it, and give a program exclusive access to it. It is only nesscessary is if you use a firewall. Should you need to forward ports, you should open your firewall, and open the ports that your client needs (which can be found in the settings window of your bittorrent client)
