shouldnt the xbox360 be able to play xbox games:
"The Xbox 360 has a 12x DVD-ROM drive that can read Xbox 360 DVDs and the usual optical media formats, such as DVD-Video, DVD-ROM, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, WMA CD, MP3 CD, and JPEG Photo CD."
xbox games are on dvd-r, which can be used in the 360. so why do people say you cant play them on the 360?

i think that the xbox games are being changed to be able to run on the xbox360, but normal xbox games that havent been changed cant run on it.

yea i think chipping it will allow you to play original xbox games on the xbox360.

CA$H where have you gotten your information? so far the ONLY OFFICAL release of info on this topic is it will be able to plau seclect xbox games. Unless Ca$h comes up with the site of the information, i wouldnt beilve any thing else.

shame, lets hope my xbox disenr cop out then when i get the 360. i tell you what though wist im an XBOX fan i sure am jelouse of the PS3 annd its backwards compatabilty right back to the PS1, ow well!!!!!!!!

its all nividias fault becuase they wanted to charge more for the cards orgianlly, so microsoft could not seel there cosnoles as cheap and when they did lower the price the were loosing moeny on every machiene sold. thats why microsoft chaged cards. my next pc card wil be a RADION LOL.
Look at it this way though it 10 years if i do get my xbox out coverd in dust from the atic to have a balst and it dosent work, i will probally be able to get the emulators for it then or something, (hopefully). or i could just store it in a nuclear safe box, inside and electromagnetic bomb proof shelter, then it may survive.
a funny thing is my mega drive, snes, master system and c64 all still work however my dreamcast dosent LOL, i will have to wait for the emulator LOL, they dont make games consoles like they used to

you can play all of your old xbox games on the xbox360, and it isnt just a select few, its all of the old xbox games

Hi the xbox 360 will only play xbox games whit a hardrive so you need it if ur gonna replace the old one, and microsoft said u can play their "best selling games" i dont know if thats ONLY best selling games or just everigame but they wanted to call it that, and some ppl take it too seriously, n-e ways, about the nvdia/ati stuff microsoft will probaly end up buying the rights and stuff, is not like they dont have enough money to take such a risk as not letting ppl play halo on xbox 360

Now you are able to play xbox game on the new xbox 360, If you have a subcription with xbox live you can go to xbox.com go to support and click on how to you will be link to download the sofware once you download the software you can burn it on cd or dvd and insert it on your xbox 360 and then you can play you regular xbox game on your xbox 360.
