I copied a VHS "home movie" to a DVD on a standalone Panasonic DMR-ES30VS. I finalized the DVD+R, and it plays fine on this player. On my computer, both the Samsung DVD player and the BenQ DVD writer play the first two seconds OK, then it is totaly "blocky" and unwatchable. The disk has the usual VOB files when read by windows explorer. Do you think that this can the be fixed using decrypter to make IFO files, and re-writing to a DVD on the computer? I want to be able to re-edit this. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well ... I'm no Panasonic expert but I have never heard of one that recorded onto a "+R" disc ... I recommend getting yourself some GOOD "-R" discs like Maxell, Sony or Verbatim ... O think that this should solve your problem ...

  Good Luck to you!

The new models - including the combo VHS DVD Recorder DMR-ES30VS - will record to -R, -RW, RAM, and +R.

You can use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create the files you need to reauthor (there's a 30-day trial, if you wish). It'll take the files on your DVD and create editable MPEG-2's. Just add a menu and re-burn with Author, which will then create new .VOBs, et al.

You didn't say what brand of +R you were using; perhaps a change of +R disc brands might help with the next project. I'd recommend Ritek G04s. Perhaps the brand you used is not compatible with the 2 players you used to play back the DVD on.

Thanks for the info. I used 4X HP disks which have recorded fine in both the Panasonic and the BenQ burner.
