v551 not connecting with MMPT or any other interfacing program

ok, so i downloaded the MMPT, have the update version 3.0, and i installed it fine. when it goes to ask me if im using bluetooth, i say i am, and as i go through the wizard, i follow all the instructions. however, it always gets hung up on discovering my phone. it just searches and searches and eventually gives up. it seems as though bluetooth is not connecting my v551 to my pc. any way i can fix this?
