If you have a burned game that you want to play u need either a mod chip or swap magic. swap magic is the cheapest and easyist way to do that, but sometimes it won't play all of the games so it sucks that way. on the other hand a mod chip can play anything, but it can be expansive and a real pain to install.( like 110 hours and if a little sodder gets on the board the whole system get destroyed)

I was looking at swap magic on a site for $29.99Ca.. Theres a spot i've heard of near where i live that sells mod chips, not sure of the name, but could they possibly install the chip as well..?

But like macman said you need either swap magic with flip top or slide card. Or you can get a mod chip. Also Swap Magic lets you play backups online. Its your decition.

Thing about it is, either way it'll be hard for me to get.. Parents wont let me send my ps2 away for a mod, and parents dont let me buy crap off the net.. Kinda hopen there was a way around it >.< .. ive read about a method using Game Shark, that doesnt require a mod or swap magic, anyone know of it..?

If thats your case then you can use Gameshark BUT....
you cant boot directly. I used to boot my games that way but you have to boot a CD that has Cogswap loader in it and then if you want to boot a DVD game you must refresh the TOC with a big in size PS2 ORIGINAL game. And then Swap it with your DVD backup and it will boot!
I had 60% of my games to work good luck!

You can find the cd here

Kraze, If there is shop near you that does modchips then take your PS2 there and see if they can install you one. If the shops close enough, you wont have to send your PS2 off. Not sure what country you live in, I am in the UK and it cost me around £65 for my modchip and installation. If your in the US thats around $115 which is well worth it. Otherwise try and persuade your parents to buy you swapmagic and a slide tool/fliptop. By the way, TOC means Table of Contents which is basically the size of the disk. Also, what version is your PS2?

Not sure which verison, one of the oldest ones im guessing.. cant even support and remote for movies.. And i live in canada, and there is a store nearby, 3 hours away.. But i was talkin to my gril and she said she be able to get swap magic for me.. Is this what im looking for..?

Also, is this the slide tool/fliptop you were talking about..?

http://modchip.ca/store/product.php?productid=16189

It says "note will not work on old original versions with 10 screws on bottom" Mine has 6 on the bottom half and 2 on the layer above..
