Hey

Recently I tried the whole port forwarding thing on my Linksys router on which I have a DSL connection, and I was greatly enjoying the increased d/l and u/l speeds.

But, after that, when I switched from eXeem to Azureus, after a while of d/l'ing and u/l'ing torrents, it COMPLETELY HOGS UP MY COMPUTER power to 99%!!! I can't even start the Start menu without a 10 second delay!

This never happened with eXeem, so is this only a problem with Azureus and if so, how can I fix my setttings?

Or should I just forget Azureus and go back to eXeem? Wat is the overall best BT client for speed and security out there? (I am thinking of either Azureus w/ Safe Peer plugin or eXeeem with Peer Guardian 2.0)

You use PeerGuardian? Did you update to PG2 and updated to the latest version? If not, PG bugs sometimes and causes 99%.

The new versions of Azureus have been hated by many because it's caused woeful problems that never happened before, my advice is to switch back to 2.2.0.2 and stay there until things clear up a bit. Check this thread for other solutions for speed increases.

It's also important to note that Azureus is a resource hog and if turned on and off a few times without restarting the computer, it really starts to slow down. I tried Azureus a little while ago, trying to see if it was actually faster(dl wise) than bitcomet, but it utterly failed in my eyes. My laptop, which isn't bad and has 768 meg of ram, had real problems with it.

I recommend bitcomet, but if you don't really care about system performance, use Azureus.

This can also be caused by zonealarm / azureus combination. I had the same problem until I upgraded to the latest ZA Pro release.

Azureus version 2.2.0.2 is much more stable and widely accepted as the version of choice.

Azureus runs on Java and this in itself can be a terrible resource hog. Another client to concider might be G3 from sourceforge.

Good luck.
